Hi All,

Does anyone know of any cool abandon or derelict places to photograph in the northamptonshire area I'm based in Corby but don't mind travelling. I've had a gander on google but can't seem to find actual maps and locations. Any help would be brilliant? :D Thank you H

Other than the above you could also join some of the urbex groups on Facebook, that said these communities are very tight lipped and I doubt you'll get a lot of information right of the bat, the same reason also applies here I'm afraid, I know I myself would be very reticent at providing information on sites I know to someone who has not made themselves part of the community first

Yup, but read the rules before asking about locations on either of those sites.

Newbies with no history of contributing to those sites can expect to get abuse when they wade in expecting members to give up carefully researched sites they're protecting from twunts that might trash them.

Best tip.. read maps, use Google Earth/Bing.. burn some fuel and wear out some shoes looking for sites of your own.

in corby it shouldnt be too difficult to find abandoned property - that area was seriously run down last time i was there ... if i recal correctly theres a big derelict farmhouse near gretton that is on land owned by Corus .. assuming it hasnt been knocked down or renovated and sold of course as i'm about 10 years out of date

If you are near London there is a large, dilapidated, crumbling building near the river called the houses of Parliament. It's going to cost squllions to make fit for purpose apparently.

but you do have to be careful not to run into the large number of assumed squatters , many of whom seem a bit deranged and spend hours at a time bleating like sheep and suffering from the delusion they are running the country...

Well done. I wanted to bring vagrants into it. But ran out of brainal energy.

having had the misfortune to spend a lot of time in nothampton (where my ex was from), at first i thought the title was a statement " Abandoned/derelict - Northamptonshire" a large chunk of warks/west midlands isnt a great deal better either

Messing about aside is St Edmunds Hospital in northampton itself still there , i recall it being derelict and probably interesting if f*****g dangerous ... but its got to be a prime candidate for an "accidental" fire followed by demolition and a bunch of houses so I'm not sure if its still standing

Brig stock there is a disused POW camp. Levotine New Byuild.( not sure if spelling.
Twin churches in Wellingborough.
Plenty of old airfields with some buildings in the county.

Does this thread count as abandoned/derelict yet? No sign of the OP since it was started..

Yep probably. .

although funnily enough St Edmund in northants was mentioned above by the moose, suggesting it was prime target for a fire....
Just seen on my fb news feed that there has indeed been a fire
