Came out tonite to shoot star trails but before hand we had a stunning sunset here in Wales so thought take a few of them so camera was in RAW ( as always) checked them well happy with them so stars started to come out so left it for an hr until pitch black set camera up to start shooting every 30secs well organised (yeh rite) so sat in car then had the feeling of dread come over me after 20mins #%^# left it in RAW so out of the car to the camera switched it off yes was still in RAW so changed to jpeg and formatted the card then I realised #%^*+#%#^%#* picture the scene a 6ft 2 person on his knees screaming and waving fist to the heavens Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhh

If you've not shot over them you can get them back still :)

Deleted the whole card Matt gutted big style

Yes put so long as you've not put more photos on the card after the format you can still get the photos back they are not really gone

Tnx both but I started all over again so all gone now but tnx for the heads up on that programme will remember that for next time

FWIW, last time I rescued a card, using the sandisc software, and the time before that, using Pandora I seem to recall, on both occasions I got photos back that had been formatted/over written several times before the ones I was actually trying to rescue following a corruption.

So, its worth running one of those programs anyway, as you never know what it will find. Obviously you have a far better chance of success if you have only formatted and not used again, but you would be amazed what gets left on there and can be found intact. For the time it will take to run the recovery, got to be worth having a go ;)

This. I rescued a card last year that it found photos I took of my dad before he died over 5 years back.
