Aaaaaargh! Or, Epson Scan can go jump in a lake

So, I've been having an issue where Epson Scan was forgetting my settings. I'd do a preview, unselect Unsharp Mask, select Digital ICE, and then for some reason it would forget it. I'd also assumed that the Digital ICE was a bit crap, because I still had dust on my colour negs. (I know it doesn't work on B&W).

So, anyway, to cut a frustrating story short, I hadn't realised (or forgot) I needed to "Select All" on the images in the preview and *then* change the options, so it would do it on every one of them, not just the one I had selected. For months I've accidentally been not using digital ICE and have been using Unsharp Mask on my scans. No wonder they're flippin' grainy and dusty.

Now I have to decide whether to rescan my favourites . . .
 
A variant on that problem is when you think you have selected 24 images to scan at a high resolution with ICE on the quality setting, so you go to the shops thinking that scan will take an hour to complete, and you return to find you have only scanned one image ...
 
I'm more than used to scanning 35mm on a dedicated film scanner, but now I need to get into scanning bigger & you're all frightening me off ...
