AA vs RAC vs Green Flag

I got recovered from Essex to Bristol following an accident in Jan 2000 and they didn't say anything about charging me.

That's not recovery, that's deportation

The RAC exclusions include: .

RAC Membership does not cover:
– Attendance following a road traffic accident.
However, as part of Our Accident Care service,
for an additional charge, We can Recover Your
Vehicle following a road traffic accident. You
may be entitled to recover these costs from
Your motor insurer but this will be subject to the
terms and conditions of Your motor insurance
policy.

The AA have a similar exclusion. Maybe the patrol drivers have some discretion or is your cover through a business/lease company?

No, normal personal cover, although I was on a bike at the time.

Sister was in the AA got stuck with the kids in a rural area. Got told by the phone operator they would be 40mins due to location. 4 1/2 later and 5 phone calls later the guy turns up and went mad with his operator for not telling him the call was to a female with young kids. A couple of other time they taken longer than told over the phone.
She then joined the RAC and had a similar experience to the first one. But on the other times she needed to call them out a Green Flag van arrived.
She is now with green flag and the 2 times she has needed them they have arrived in less time than stated.

My Dad has been in both the AA and RAC and other than one time he needed a home start a Green Flag van has turned up. He has now joined green flag taken the same option he has with them all to insure himself and the wife no matter the car they are in.

But the main thing to remember is to keep switching to get the new member discount as they all screw you over when renewing.

Lots of useful info here guys and different stories to tell. After reading through it all RAC won the day, joined up last night after getting car back from the garage. Mainly for the wife's peace of mind when she is out and about driving which is sometimes on country roads.

Probably be AA's turn next year.

I'm with AutoAid. Much cheaper and you pay for recovery but claim back. Used it twice and is excellent value.
