Yes
After todays shoot I removed the AA batteries from my 3 flashguns. I have been shooting a lot in the last 5 days and each night I have taken them out and charged them.

Today though one of them looks a little worse for ware, the wrap has shrunk and its kinda sticky. The rest seem fine but im guess that is got too hot and started to melt?

The flash never stopped fireing, and it seems to charge..

Should I just bin it?

I suggest you do Bin-it! That sticky is corrosive.

Yup, better to bin them and get some replacements than to lose a flashgun!

Make sure you swab out the flashgun too. I used an old lint free glasses cleaning cloth wrapped around a screwdriver when I had a battery let go in a cd walkman, worked a treat and no ill effects.

What brand is it? I had a 7dayshop one that started to go, sent an email and got a FOC replacment battery in a handy plastic case.

take a photo and emial it to them, you may get an FOC replacement like me.

Try their Eneloop copies next time.

Slow discharge, but apparently, this type of battery is more efficient so run cooler than standard 'fast discharge' NMh. I've not had any problems from them anyroad.
