A3 Photo

I've had photos from my 8mp 30D printed at photobox at their larger than A2 size and they came out fantastic even under close inspection.

What resolution did you save the files in? What pixel size were they? Did you PS them at all?

According to the megapixel print chart you will need a 20 megapixel image for an A3 print of true photo quality, scooby.
But since A3 prints are not usually viewed at a distance of, say, 18 inches (reading distance), but rather at greater distances, a 200dpi print may just have sufficient image quality for your purpose (true photo quality is 300dpi).

Sorry hadn't checked this thread.
I just sent them at the full 8mp resolution from my 30D with a bit more sharpening than i'd normally do and they came out fantastic, even when viewed right in front of my eyes.
Sorry i've got no magic formula for sharpening. I've not had many large prints done to get used to processing for them.

I'm not sure why some people say prints at less than 300dpi aren't very good.
Longs you've got a good quality and sharp photo in the first place, massive prints from relatively low mp cameras can look great.
 
You can print an A3 from a 5mp file. Its all down to how good your shot is and how good the printer is.
