Just ordered an Epson R1900 and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on A3 size paper .... prefer Lustre finish and also do a lot of black and white work .. should i stick to Epson paper ?

thanks

I've got the R2400 and tend to stick with the Epson papers.I Also use Epson inks. But they are thirsty printers and expensive to run....
Actually I'll correct that. The cartridges are far to small for these printers. Don't seem to last long. Considering fitting a cis kit.

I use Brilliant paper from Calumet and find it to be pretty good :)

there are loads of papers you can try out. first port of call should be to try some of the fibre based papers. Harman FB gloss and ilford's gold fibre silk are excelent papers and you might also want to consider Innova art's super glazed fibaprint paper too

I was wondering this as well. I was going to order a load of small 4x6 sized and try them on that first before buying larger.

I recently bought the Epson R2880 and couldn;t believe the ink cartridges were the same sized as my old all in one printer!

you can buy test packs from permajet, innova, ilford, hahnemuhle, fotospeed in A4 size

Guys

I can highly recommend 'Tecco' papers too. They're a UK based mill and their papers are spot on. They work very well with the Epson RIPs as standard too.

The lustre is very tasty - not quite as heavy as the Epson original but a very good finish. Harman stuff is nice - but personally feel it is highly over rated.

Regarding 3rd party CIS devices.... just don't do it!
You've spent how much on your glass, your body, your computer and software to edit. A fair good whack for your printer ... why skimp on the overall output! Honestly - trust me, stay standard and you'll be so much happier with the finished product.

<-- speaking from experience!

Permajet 271 oyster is my current normal paper of choice. It has a nice bright, white base and a very nice lustre finish. You can download ICC profiles for many printers from the permajet website http://www.permajet.com.

If you want to try something a bit special, try their fiber-based glossy paper. It's lush!
