Hi all
Sold my D40 and I was planning to get a D60. I went out to play at Jessops as you do:P While there played with a few other cameras.

What hit me like a freight train was the the Sony A200 appeared a lot faster to focus than my old D40 and the D60. I tried a Canon 450 and I found that to appeared to focus a lot quicker.

Has anyone else noticed this? Im not sure if it was just me misjudging the speeds. This appeared so noticable Im tempted to get the A200 over the D60.

Means selling my Nikon 18 -135 DX which I loved :(

Not sure about the speed thing, but you'll probably get hordes of Nikon users saying 'No! don't go to Sony, there aren't many lenses available'. Well that is no longer true. It was a year or two back when Sony just had the A100, but now with the A200, 300, 350, 700 and soon the A900, there are enough lenses available from various manufacturers that you'll have no trouble getting the focal lengths you want.

Thanks for the reply. I would love to hear from others as well, as I was very surprised.

again,i can speak highly of the sony kit..but having no experience of either canon or nikon,i cannot give a comparison..but i would say go with what feels right for you,and you alone..i've found that since i got the 70-200 G lens that foccusing is lightning fast on my 350

never feel like i need anything else when I use my a200

Probably down to the D40/60 not having an a/f motor, however, irregardless of what is said above you willpay more/have to search harder for oem lenses for a Sony dslr (not aftermarket or ancient Minolta stuff). This is not to say I would advise against getting the Sony, far from it, but you need to look ahead and decide what you are planning for your next upgrade in terms of both body and lenses, before making a choice...

i meant like features etc not lenses, sorry for the confusion
