I recently came across a story about dihydrogen monoxide whislt reading a scientific journal.

I think it's something everyone should be made aware of.
This is just a small copy and paste from http://www.dhmo.org/ A group dedicated to increasing public knowledge of the hazards of this ubiquitous pollutant.

I should also point out the below is not suspected but proven scientific fact.

Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:

* Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
* Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
* Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
* DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
* Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
* Contributes to soil erosion.
* Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
* Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
* Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
* Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
* Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
* Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.

I think it's fairly obvious to anyone who has an interest in life and our planet how potentialy dangerous this stuff can be.

A smattering in your whisky should be OK.

ill try it :) cant get any iller than what i am already lol

. . . But that can lead to a fight with Polar Bears, who know its true value.

Can't be all bad...

from the faq said:
What are some uses of Dihydrogen Monoxide?

snip

by the Church of Scientology on their members and their members' families
by both the KKK and the NAACP during rallies and marches,
by members of Congress who are under investigation for financial corruption and inappropriate IM behavior,

Reading down that list I'm starting to get the feeling the folk at dhmo.org are a sandwich or two short of a picnic.

its water! yo usay its not dangerous but that lady on the water diet wouldnt say its a hoax it killed her... she drank so much she drowned...

It's dangerous for me, can't swim!!

Stop Press-----Arsenic is not good for you !!!!!!!!
Just thought you all should know.
Pete.

Just to conforim now:
Dihydrpgen Monoxide, or DHMO, is also expressable by it's chemical name. 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygenm written as.......
H20

That's water :p

LOL Saw this doing the rounds a while ago....soooo many people fell for it. Not me I might add :suspect: :bat:

I have to say i was slightly confused:thinking:

Grr

This has been going round since the dawn of the internet. Late 1990's (I'd just started secondary school) there was even a relatively large campaign organised to petition the government to try and ban dihydrogen monoxide before someone actually pointed out that it was water - do people really not know that di-hydrogen and mon-oxide means two hydrogen and one oxygen?

but rick it can poison you... apart fromt he girl who drank too much water in a day and killed herself i knew of a downs syndrome girl who drank too much water and died. she drank a whole water coolers worth the space of a few hours

Yes, drinking to much water destroys your kidneys much in the same way too much salt poisons you, its all to do with osmoregulation

I think the first recorded instance was in '89.

Some Australian minster actually petitioned the government to ban 'dihydrogen monoxide'!

I refuse to take this highly dangerous and insidious product unless it is diluted with substantial amounts of alcohol to reduce its efficacy.
Pete.

but to me it is poison ive not had water in at least a year... it normally beer, or cider or other alcohol, red ull or similar or coke, and also milk... i like vodka and milk :D or just milk.. oh and tea... i dont remember the last time i had just water :O

It must have killed off all your brain cells :D
