A Tragic Loss

Just got a text about this from my mate who plays rugby, horrible.

My team, its really tough going in and around the club recently.
I posted about it in the Jade thread.
We're having a really bad time with influential players and staff over the past year or so.
David Topliss died in June, hugely influential ex coach Wakefield and RL legend (heart attack at 58)
Don Fox died in August, another Wakefield legend
Adam Watene died in October during training, a current 1st choice Super League player, (heart attack at 31).
And now this.
I dunno, these guys are super fit athletes, rough tough guy's, a match in fitness for any sport on Earth, it's difficult to grasp how/when and why these things happen, it must be just shattering for their family's.

And nearly 2 years ago, Spanish International Antonio Puerta (22) collapsed whilst playing for Sevilla against Getafe. He later died in intensive care at the local hospital. I remember watching that game :(

Awful news, RIP. :( I had taped the Wakefield match on Sky+ to watch later on, only to find that they were showing a rerun of last years GF. I then googled to find out why the match had been cancelled, which is when I heard the bad news! Wakefield and their fans are definitely having a tough time at the moment! :(

there is no guarantees of anything, a friend of a friend, fit as you like 24 last week whent to play football got tackled strangely, vomited and died.

R.I.P

Maybe it's about time some of the more advanced training schedules came under a bit of close scrutiny. Some people may be what is classed as superfit, but what damage have they had to do to their body to become that "fit"?

Crickey, thats horrible, as said above not there first person to die from the same reason. Must admit the first thing after that i though of is being 2 in such a short time in the same team is something to do with there training, or possible supplements there using, well thats something id be looking into. (when i say supplements i am not suggesting drug abuse, theres plenty of stuff out there that atheles use including me)

Adam Watene has been at Wakefield for 2 years, he hadn't been long back from the NZ where he had been on compassionate leave attending to the death of his own father from a heart attack, Topliss was 58 pretty fit but probably liked a pie like everybody else, obviously he wasn't a player, the other guy's were legends from years gone by.
We'll have to wait and see on the post mortem for the young lad, but I doubt it will have much to do with diet or supplements related to the club, he was only signed just before Christmas from another club.
