Don't put your tripod on a bridge parapet, no matter how wide and how flat and how safe you think it is,

The tripod will still find a way to hurl itself into the lake.

Thank you.

Oops.... this is why I never use a tripod. That way I'd end up in the lake.. oh wait. That's not better is it?

Which lake is it? It might wash up!

It's in Knypersley.

I'm thinking I'll go back with some fishing line with hook attached.

Worth a go I reckon.

It's worth a try. Should entertain the real fishermen for a bit if nothing else...

Oh dear Simon, sorry to read that...

Sorry. But the word Muppetry comes to mind...:exit:

At least I only lost a few hours to my muppetry.....

I'm sure a chap of your obvious skills will find a way to retrieve the errant tripehound ;):D

If you can see it or have a good idea where it is try using a magnet from an old speaker As even on an aluminium /carbon tripod there may be some steel in the head to allow a pick up.
Those magnets are quite powerful and should take the weight.

On string of course!

a grapple would be better than a hook, more chance of umm hooking it :sorry:

I've got a couple of THESE from when Dad and I did a fair amount of boating (cameras etc. take my money, boats took his!). Might float well enough to pull a tripod up or keep it floating. I wonder if sealing the smallest tube would improve buoyancy enough to help a bit?

.........and I bet you didn't swear at all did you?:D

It could have been worse......it could have been my tripod:confused::D

If I was still in the UK, I'd be highly tempted to make a detour to photograph you spending ( probably hours or days:confused:) fishing it out.

It's gotta be worth a go though ........perhaps there'll be a last minute f&c meet to Knypersley to watch ya:ROFLMAO::exit:
If I lived closer I'd give you a spare tripod that I have.....sadly forking out to post from here aint worth it.:(

Best of luck if you go wading/fishing/ diving:p
