Now your mind is out of the gutter, settle down, and I'll proceed :D

I've mentioned some of this elsewhere, previously but there is more. And TBH Tesco is now my least favourite shop!

About 2 months ago, I noticed the scanner was
beeping more than it should be, so I asked for a receipt ( I don't normally bother on a "Quick shop")
There were 6 cucumbers listed on the receipt, I hadn't bought any, one had been "removed" but 5 others followed.
On questioning the non purchases, it appears that some bar codes are behind the till and they are scanned from there.
Apparently it wasn't my fault that the additions were added! Err no, it wasn't!
Since then I have always made sure I get a receipt if that particular person is serving.

A couple or so weeks ago, I bought "stuff" and a £3 meal deal at the same store, and was served by the same person.
She neglected to scan the drink, which in fact made the meal deal ( Sandwich and crisps) approx 30p dearer. £3.30p instead of £3.00
It wasn't until sometime later that I checked the receipt. At that point I really couldn't be bothered to return to the store to correct the error.

In the past,
I was handed the wrong brand of cigarettes, ( and they were rung up on the till) when I pointed this out, I was handed the correct brand, the wrong brand
was about £2 more expensive than the correct brand.
Thankfully I hadn't "checked out" at this point, as I had to explain that I wanted the wrong brand cancelled and the correct scanned.
But "she" was more than "happy just to re-stock the wrong brand, and give me the correct brand!
Otherwise I would have been paying approx £2 more for the correct brand.
It took awhile but we got there in the end.

It was suggested that I should go to "customer services" instead of the local store manager, just in case there was "something" going on.
I got a reply from Ian, thanking me for bringing this to his attention. But seemed more concerned that Tesco maybe loing out, than their customers..
Not good customer service!

The other day at another local store, there are a few quite close to me, following a little stock up shop, and not bothering to check the
receipt until I got home I found a low value item £0.52p had been scanned twice!

I've only really been checking the receipts for a few months, but in those short months, there have been several 50p + anomalies.

As I wrote the Dave Lewis ( the CEO ) how many times a day does this happen across the country?
I guess most people wouldn't query the odd 50p occasionally, or they may not even spot the error on a big shop containing low value items.
I suggested that his staff really do need rather a lot or re-training, and if he would be so kind as to let me know when this has taken place,
I'll return to shopping at my local Tesco. But for now, I have many alternatives in the local area such as Sainsbury Iceland Aldi ASDA Lidl Oh and a Coop strore right next to my very local Tesco.

Well, as yet Dave hasn't replied, I'm guessing the last paragraph may well have reduced my chances of a reply anyway :D

Wouldn't get that in Waitrose :-)

Wouldn't get that in Waitrose :)
Oh Yeah there is one not too far either, but parking is a nightmare :(

TBH I used Tesco for the convenience and the ease of parking, but sadly, their produce especially "Fresh" certainly seems to be going down hill :(

Tesco's fresh is abysmal! 7/10 time I buy a packet of 3 onions at least one of them is rotten.

Onions, I've not actually had that, but eating them raw, (who doesn't love raw onion? )
Is now like chewing leather, just as tough and twice as tasteless :(
Even in a stew, they have very little taste :(

Lidl seem to do the best veg (other than farm shops/specialist greengrocers) round here. Unfortunately they're the far side of the city so we don't get there very often.

Having watched the way one member of staff in particular at our local Sainsburys throws the loose fruit & vegetables around I am wary about buying fresh produce there now. We have had too many instances of fruit in particular being bruised & damaged within days of purchase.

It wouldn’t have happened when uncle jack was in charge .. once went to dinner at his place in bishops avenue Hampstead , my grandad was a mate of his .. got the impression he ruled Tesco’s with a rod of iron

About time that shop had an covert visit or three by trading standards!

It may be petty but surely needs action to stamp it out!!!

If you buy bananas from Tescos and the loose ones don't look very nice look at the pre-packed ones, bet they look better, then take the pre-packed ones to the self check out, dont scan them weigh them and see how much cheaper it is that way.
The fresh produce does not keep well, customer service can be a joke, the shelf stackers have never heard of stock rotation, bread with the same date as Asda is never as fresh from Tescos,we use them with care, basically because the check out girls are good fun and with us both being retired we have the time to police them.

Is that where the cut price Tesco "Jacks" got its name?

Ooooo that's norty :D

But actually I prefer the loose ones, so I can see exactly what I'm buying, and I'll walk away if they look crap.
The pre packed ones always look a tad green to me, I prefer them with a few black spots on the skins.

Ridley Road market......... that takes me back, up to age 4 that was round the corner from us and my mum's regular shopping place.

And me ,first school was colvestone crescent .. .. the Ridley arms pub was I think owned by a pair of well known brothers ..

We stopped ordering delivery because apparently they have actual cabbages doing the shop for you. Every time there's at least 5-6 items replaced with something you really didn't want.

BUT ... they do make up for their silliness at times, at least when you complain over here. My missus is a master at the ol' 'strongly worded complaints' - we ordered a Christmas tree via the online delivery service, along with the usual shop a couple years back. They didn't have the one we ordered in stock so instead sent a POS £12 tattered, miserable looking thing - yes they refunded the difference, but this was cutting it close to tree-up time and they claimed to have it in stock. Long story short: We [she] moaned at them, and they sent out their top of the range tree [at the time, worth £149] plus 3 sets of their fanciest baubles and a couple sets of lights and some boxes of chocs and biscuits for free

All I can say is, be thankful it's me on here, not the missus

Well I heard back from the CEO's office, apologising for the errors.
and a £5 "gift card"

Waitrose now ask if you want a paper receipt, also an option at the cashierless checkout, presumably for eco reasons.

Not suggesting they would deliberately do anything dodgy, but easy for something to get scanned twice.
Also sometimes offers haven't been uploaded to the main computer, like to check my receipt for anomalies

How many cucumbers can you get for that?
Well at 60p ea I make that about 8.33r
:D

Tesco, and I assume others have been "asking" for years.

Plus its always wise when doing a self check out too, otherwise you may issues with the man mountain stood by the door in a suit ;)

Went into to Tesco early this morning, had a money off furl voucher I needed to use and needed a few bits.
Got to the aisle with the loo rolls and it appeared Andrex supersoft were on special offer £3 for 12
except none on the shelf, but I did remember passing a huge mound of them on the way in
Walked back to the display and scanned a pack, only for it to show as £6.67 !!!
Walked over to the customer service desk to complain, one lady checked and her scan was saying "Out of Stock"
and yet we were stood next to a damn great pile of them
She went and checked on the shelf, then came back and said she would sell them at £3 but I would have to do it at
the customer service till and she would reduce the price,
Hmmmm she scanned on that and it came up as £3

Wonder how many people got caught out by it and where the hell do I store 12 loo rolls, normally only buy 4 at a time
but at 50p extra for another 8 ........................................................

I'd forgotten that "trick" reduced or special offer items being rung up at full price.
Its happened a couple of times in the past to me also.
But I do tend to watch these when they are rung up.
and where the hell do I store 12 loo rolls,
Paint them and sting them up as Christmas decorations / paper chains? :D

I store bigger bags of bog rolls in the garage, against the wall just where I open the car door, two uses in one, she buys packs that have at least a dozen at a time, Costco packs are even bigger.
