A SpidersEye View: A picture a day

I've been working up in the Highlands again this week. The road I use to get to the site I'm surveying goes past Lochindorb, and despite the fact I've been driving by it for 2 years this is the first time I've actually stopped (pathetic, I know )

Stopped off at Nairn on the way home from work. The idea was to go for dinner and then get some sunset pictures, but the sun set behind a huge bank of cloud and I was too full from breakfast to eat any tea so my plans failed  So instead I ended up photographing an oil rig and a jackdaw (the hooded crow kept landing behind things so I never got a picture of him :(

Well we haven't had a bridge picture for a while now ...

This is a really scenic spot, easily missed as it's not a well-used road. The gorge is beautiful, there are a couple of waterfalls and the bridge is really impressive when you get up close to it (which involves a bit of a scramble, which is always fun :D)

This wasn't taken today, but it happened everyday at the B&B where I stayed this week :)

Great shots Kay. Love the squirrel shot, not something you see very often down here on the south coast, unless you go to Brownsea Island of course.

Day 46 is lovely Kay,

The red squirrel is very cute, I've never seen one in the flesh over here. :)

Thanks. Lochindorb's a really scenic spot, it's a really nice drive and the road just follows the shoreline. I was standing in the middle of the road to get this shot :) I need to go there when I have a bit more time I think.

I love red squirrels, I've been stopping at the same b&b for 2 years now, the squirrels come from the wood opposite and onto the bird feeders. It's good entertainment during breakfast (and yes they are very cute :))

Dulsie Bridge looks like a nice place

It's a lovely spot, not far from Lochindorb. Apart from the bridge and the gorge there's nothing there particularly, it's just a nice quiet place and a very good picnic spot - you can get right down to the water if you don't mind doing a bit of rock climbing :)

I went to the south side of Edinburgh today to get a haircut and have a bit of a nosey at the Quartermile development - it's a big area that includes the old Royal Infirmary buildings and some new structures, and there are flats, offices, shops etc all in the one place. It's an interesting contrast in building styles but I think the new buildings take something away from the character of the old ones :(

Just spent a wonderful 45 minutes reading and viewing my way through this thread, too many images of exceptional vision to comment on individually so I applaud you for all of them and will be visiting often.
I like your work, thanks for sharing, you have tempted me into doing a 365 butt not until yours is done, I might miss something :D

Thankyou for your kind comments TerryO, I really appreciate it. I'm glad you're enjoying the thread and look forward to yours when you start it :)

Knockhill191-Copy.jpg

I went to Knockhill today for the first meet of the Scottish Motor Racing Championship, and happened to be watching the hairpin when the driver of the Lamborghini apparently wasn't ...

There was surprisingly little damage done to the car; once the marshals had pulled it down from the tyrewall the driver got back in and just drove it back to the pits.

Shame it wasn't sharper Kay, but a great shot!!!!

I always found the AF system on the D40 was a bit slow, I only really got say one out of every 4 sharp. The D90 is a great improvement though.

I'd love to see more of the shots you got.

By the way, a women that like motorsport and photography??

Yeah, I'm a petrolhead too ;)

I'm gutted it wasn't sharp, but it's mainly because I was busy shooting something else when the guy went off the track, so I didn't have much time to react. But the AF can be slow sometimes.

I've posted some more of my shots here :)

I bet the guy on the platform got a good shot or video :)

I'd love to see what he got :)

Whoops! Looks expensive. Good capture Kay :)

Thanks, he was out for the next race but he didn't finish. There were quite a few bits hanging off the car after the first couple of laps!

My next update won't be until Friday now as I'm away again this week. Heading south-west this time!

Your 365 is amazing so far...

Too many to comment on but the Red Squirrel...lovely...

You certainly have a good eye for capturing a great moment in time...

and I'll enjoy following your progress...

Thankyou very much for your comments :)

It's funny really that I've never had any luck photographing the grey squirrels, even though they're everywhere

Your 365 continues to amaze, entertain and educate me. It's hard to comment on individual shots when they're all so interesting and varied.:clap:

Jean

Thank you :)

I'm really enjoying doing this, so I'm glad you like what I've done so far :)

I spotted this fellow perched on some railings at the b&b. Despite the fact I never saw him move, I couldn't get a positive ID on him :D

Just visible, top left :)

I didn't take many pictures that day because shortly after this one the rain arrived - and didn't leave for hours :(

I spent ages trying to get pictures of the chaffinches that kept landing in the tree next to my window but they kept landing behind things. I turned my attention the crows instead, which are somewhat easier subjects :)

Work got completely rained off so we spent most of the day sitting a tea room doing paperwork. It finally cleared up but too late to do any work, and I felt the need to drive to the west coast and watch the sunset. It was quite a good one. The land across the way is Kintyre :)

Great sunset, simple but effective, really great :)

Top set! Gives a really good impression of your week.

The sunset is lovely Kay, something I haven't done much of!! :)

Thanks all :)

I love watching sunsets, especially on the west coast. I'll probably be shooting another one next week as I'm down that way again (I was hoping for a week indoors, but no such luck!). There's a better spot further down the road, but I was too late in getting there this time so I'll have to try again :)

A pebble I found down by a river that I thought was quite cool :)

I thought I'd try something new today: shooting dark object on black background. The reflective surface is my laptop, the background is a ring binder and a clipboard. I've only just realised what a great surface the laptop makes for reflections! :)

We've had great weather today so I went for a wander round the Botanics. There are some great colours around at the moment, however most of the pictures I took were of leaves :D

More images here :)
