A SpidersEye View: A picture a day

DSC_0053.jpg

We had a good sunny day in Edinburgh today, except for a few rain showers. Still cold, though :)

A couple of friends of mine are getting married next Friday and I have the responsibility of driving either the groom or the bridesmaids to the church. We met up tonight, ate far too much pizza and they gave me the ribbon that I'll be decorating my car with :)

We had new phones at work last week. this is the first picture I've taken with it. I hardly ever use the cameras on phones, in fact I don't know half of what they do - as long as I can make calls, and answer calls, that's all I need to know :)

Not a great picture, I just found it interesting that the face recognition worked on it

I treated myself to new boots and trainers this weekend. It isn't normally something I'd get excited about (I'm not really a fan of shopping) but I got paid this weekend for the first time since January thanks to being made redundant from my last job, so it was nice to treat myself.

I've had a very strange day today - started work at 7.30 and thanks to a flat battery in the van, having to drive to work in my own car to get the pickup to drive to site, then having to change the battery in the van when I got back, I didn't finish until around 9.00 :(

I couldn't take any pics at work today as I was too busy, and when I got home I had just enough time to fix the van / clean my car (ish) before it got dark.

Didn't want to take another indoorsy-type shot today, and too tired to go out and get anything interesting (early start tomorrow), so it's a Fail from me :(

I'll get 2 for tomorrow to make up for it :)

I've had one of them days, but took a really poor shot to just have a photo posted. I wish now I'd taken your decision and not bothered.

I had an equally busy day today (minus the van problems), out looking at bridges. I managed to get a few pictures of this bridge, which I admit isn't particularly interesting so I've been doing some experimenting with the PP again.

I've also had a go at something abstract for the fun of it - I tried it in a range of colours before deciding it was probably best left black and white.

I made these a few weeks ago while thinking about contrasting colours ... I painted the edges with ink, and dipped them in water and it made some nice effects :)

I didn't get any time to take photos during the day, so I thought I'd post something colourful as my last few pictures haven't had that much colour to them.

Like the low angle rivets ;)

Thankyou. I thought it would make a change to have a picture from on top of the bridge instead of underneath it today :)

Love the last two - really contrasting images - just the sort of thing that I want to achieve as well

Thankyou Nic :)

One of the things I'm enjoying about doing this 365 is that I'm taking photos of things I wouldn't always think to photograph. It's good fun :D

I like the Riveting shot, very, uh Riveting??

I thought about climbing a bridge on the way home tonight but decided against it.

Climbing bridges is fun! Although I'm not sure I'll be saying that after I've been doing it for a few more weeks :D

It was the day of my friends' wedding. The couple have a bit of an obsession with Skodas, and they wanted a small convoy of them to take them and the bridesmaids, best man and parents to the church, but in the end only two of us could make it. This is the front of the Octavia vRS that the bride travelled in; the very proud owner was out detailing it until 11:00 last night!

None of my wedding pictures came out well at all, nor did the pictures of my car, which is a shame considering the number of hours I put into preparing it :(

It was a lovely day though, but I already know I'd never made a wedding/portrait photographer.

I had a bit of a mishap yesterday morning. Everything was going fine, I managed to get the car presentable for the wedding, and I was just on my out to put the ribbon on the front ... I closed the front door, then realised I didn't have my door keys, but the door had locked behind me, with the keys and my phone on the other side :shake: I went into panic mode as I had about an hour to go before I had to collect the bridesmaids, and went and borrowed a hammer from the neighbour so I could break the glass in the door and let myself in :(

So then I had to board up the gap in the door, clear up the glass, phone the glazier (who came round this morning, hence today's pic), fix the ribbon to the car, make myself presentable and head off ... how I made it on time, I will never ever know!

Walked into town this morning, the scenic route. One of the paths I use goes through a small wooded area and alot of the plants are starting to come into flower now :)

Day 29, Silly Boy!!

Though, I always do it, good thing is that the top window is normally open and you can climb up the fence, over the roof and in through!! No broken windows in my house!! ;)

Day 29, Silly Girl!!

There ya go ;)

Not so easy at my house, I live on the 4th floor!
Every other time I've ever been out, I always have my keys in my hand before I shut the door, so I know where they are and so things like that don't happen :( I'm just glad I made it to the wedding or I'd really have been in trouble!

It's another one:

This is the only picture I managed to take today.

I spent most of today looking at this bridge, doing a final check of any gaps that bats or birds could use before work starts on it (they're rebuilding the railway that used to run underneath). This bridge has a number of ledges on one side that are big enough for birds to nest on, so I've had netting put over this area to stop anything using it, so there's nothing in there that might get disturbed when work starts. The cherry-picker on the other side is the one we've been using to check the higher parts of the bridge with :D

I was incredibly sexist and just assumed that because you work at bridges, you were a man.

I apologise, but can I just say,

Bless you. Apology accepted ;)

I won't always be looking at bridges, I'll hopefully be spending time up in the hills soon, so there'll be more landscape pictures then :)

I spent all day underneath a bridge again today, but seeing as we had a bridge picture yesterday, today you get a wheelbarrow. I've had a bit of fun with this one, adding a rustier look to it, changing the colours of the bricks etc. It hasn't really worked as well as I though it would when I took the picture though :| There was also a dipper nesting in the bridge but it would've been impossible to get a picture of it :)

Think the colours look a bit overdone, also a tighter crop of the wheelbarrow may have made a more interesting shot. Maybe you could get a closeup of the wheelbarrow for tomorrows one ;)

Lots of interesting colours / tones and textures in that last shot - i like it

Thanks very much :)

Yeah I did enjoy myself with the colouring-in; it wasn't that interesting before I started, so I decided to brighten it up a bit :)

Thanks for the comments :)

I was a bit annoyed with myself today - I left my camera in the van while I went to check on the dipper nest I found yesterday, and when I got there I had a great view of a female goosander :(

I didn't have much time to take any pictures, so here's a quick one I took when I got home. I don't think it's turned out very well, but I thought I'd post it anyway and it'll remind me to have another go later :)

I got home from work and attacked the contents of the salad drawer :)

Typical bank holiday - stayed in and didn't do much at all (a much needed day off) so for today's picture I tried something simple :)

Met up with a few other TPers in Glasgow today, and visited the botanic gardens, which is just my kind of thing (except I hardly knew what any of the plants were). I'm still going through all the pictures I took and will put some in a seperate thread either tonight or tomorrow. This is a shot of the glasshouse roof. Apologies if it sends your eyes daft :D
