A SpidersEye View: A picture a day

I often like to go and sit by the duck pond on the way home from work if I'm in a thoughtful mood. This picture was taken at sunset, from my favourite bench :)

I've been working in Ayrshire today, doing tree surveys. On my way up the hill I noticed a craggy area and some old bits of timber. I wasn't sure if it would make a decent picture or not, but I think I like it.

Is that a sort of Sepia treatment?? I like the idea of the picture but what's it like in colour??

I converted it to mono and then added a slight hue to it to give the sepia effect. I then added the noise to help disguise a big blown area of sky. Just experimenting really.

Here's the original:

Another bridge picture :geek:

You won't be able to walk along this route for much longer because they're rebuilding the railway that used to run along here :)

Like the simple composition of the bridge and the fact you have the camera near the ground, really portrays a sense of scale.

I like the low angle as well, is that a dry riverbed you are standing on??

Thanks, glad you like the picture.

I'm standing on a cycle path, which is the route the new railway will take, but a lot of trees have been cut down nearby and the track is covered in bits :)

I've not had a great day today and didn't manage to get anything done that I wanted to do :(

I attempted to cheer myself up by doing lots of cooking, so today you get a shot of moussaka.

Definition:
A Greek dish consisting of layers of ground lamb or beef and sliced eggplant topped with a cheese sauce and baked.

Very nice it is too.

This is my first attempt at photographing him, and I've had him almost 5 years!

I know it's a bit dark, but it's sort of the effect I wanted, with the light coming through the fins. It's not as easy to photograph fish as I thought it would be! I'll have to have another go at some point with a change of lighting I think. Oh and his name's Disley :)

Interesting effect there, I can imagine as you say that it's hard to shoot a fish in a fish tank

love the bridge, the low ground angle makes it look huge!

And boy that mousakka looks good. I don't eat lamb but my mouth is watering

Nice fishy shot - I have taken so many of my pishies in their tank, not one I've been happy enough to post. It's very hard.

It's quite a challenge! This was the best picture from around 120 I took this afternoon. For the lighting I used a head torch that was hanging from a shelf above the tank, which was bright but not shining directly in. I'd just changed the water which is why there are bubbles on the plants and the back of the tank.

The moussaka was great - I impressed myself with that one! :D

Thanks for the comments :)

I found something strange in the kitchen cupboard this evening :D

I love the variety (and quality!) of your daily shots. They're always interesting and give little glimpses into your life - it sounds as though your job takes you out and about a bit, but I imagine that in the middle of a busy day taking photos isn't easy. Well done

Day 17 - Can we have a clue, please - animal vegetable or mineral? :)

Thanks very much Jean for the positive and encouraging comments. I do tend to get out and about quite alot, although I'll be indoors this week but hopefully soon I'll be off out to some interesting and scenic places. It won't always be easy to get photos when I'm out working (it depends on the project really) but I'll try :)

Go on then I'll tell you ... it's part of a potato that had been put to the back of the cupboard and had started to grow :D

I pass these buildings if I take the scenic route home from work, along the Water of Leith. It isn't a great photo and the light was terrible as it was getting dark and it had just started to rain, so I had a play to make it a bit more interesting. I'm not quite sure about it, but it's always good to try something different :)

interesting idea, would be good with a wide angle lens to get the whole row of houses in frame too.

Thanks, I'd like to go back that way when the weather / light's a better and get some more pictures.

I like it, I'm useless at all the layer mask stuff. So it's nice to see it done well! :D

Thankyou, it's the first time I've had a go at this so I'm glad it worked :)

love it  great colours.

Thanks, glad you like it :)

One of my favourite signs of the start of spring :)

Unfortunately all the open ones were on the other side of the river :|

"something strange happened"

Jean

Yeah, the picture went all fuzzy when I uploaded it so I had to delete it and use another one  :D

Not that exciting really! :)
