a small step up from a Nikon D5000 - or not..?

experiencing a GAS attack ...bad news on a Pension.........

no car - travelling is limited - thus mostly local landscapes

Nikon D5000 - low mileage.......sell.?
18-55 AF-S VR kit.....................sell.?
55-200 AF-S VR kit
18-70 AF-S 3.5/4.5

Nikkor 28mm AI
Nikon 'E' 50/1.8
Nikon 'E' 100/2.8
these three from my film camera - but I'm OK with manual operation

for about £200cash, so far I've looked at used D90 or used D300 ......

but adding the proceeds of selling the D5000 with kit 18-55 VR...£125.?......any ideas for a body upgrade circa £300..?

or stay with the D5000.........

I don't see that the D90 or D300 offer you anything you don't already have that might prove useful to you, if you had to spend some money I'd probably look at a D5200 which I think you can get quite easily within your budget but that would be spending money for the sake of it really.

Spurious arguments, really. Ned said it. You might like a D300 better in the hand - it's a solid little animal - and it's DX like your current D5000, but with an older sensor, so it's low-light performance is likely to be worse. One of the things that improving technology grants us is to pull more stuff out of the shadows. To me that's pretty vital.

So if it were me, I'd stick with the body you have, & concentrate on the manual lenses. To go light, just take the 50. Another day, take the 28 & the 100. The rest's up to you.

Sell the zooms - they're just powder puff. But you won't get much for 'em. Think charity shop, maybe?

I like the 18-70 AF-S DX a good walkabout, and the 18mm I find i do use

Yup, stick with what you've got. Unless you really need (or really, really want!) the extra that some new bodies offer, there's little point in making any "upgrades".
