Yes
Evenin' all.

I have a Canon 30D body as a backup (doesn't get used much), however...
I also have a Lexar 512Mb "Professional Compactflash 80x" card...
...which I stuck in it the other evening to take a couple of Macro shots on the quick. Firmware level is 1.0.6.
Output was set to RAW + JPEG FINE.

Anyway, took two images fine, then, releasing the shutter the third time, the write lamp seemed to stay red for ages then the LCD informed "problem with card". I've tried various tricks including reformatting in the PC, ejecting and reinserting the card, swapping and cleaning lens/body contacts to no avail.

It behaves the same after every try.
If, however, I set the body to output JPEG only, it works fine - odd.

On spec, I've ordered a 4Gb Sandisk Ultra to try in it.

On balance, would you think the card incompatible with the body?
As it's only half a Gig and therefore nothing like new I wondered why.

Time will tell. I hope it's not the bloody body gone Pete-Tong.

Thanks for the thoughts, folks.

solaris9000: Yes, I've tried reformatting in the camera AND a PC, several times, same result.
dentedshed: No, I haven't put the Lexar in the 1D, nor have I tried a card from the 1D in the 30D. My cautious nature told me there was a remote possibility that doing either would cloud the issue and just might damage a good card or a good camera.
Unlikely on the face of it, I know but having spent years in the electronics industry analysing issues of this kind has taught me caution at all costs.

At any event, there's a 4Gig Sandisk Ultra 30x in the post so we'll see, I guess.

4Gig Sandisk Ultra 30x installed. Problem solved FYI.
