Hi everyone,

Recently I have been searching for a cheap as possible Nikon 600 F4.0 vrii.
The best price that I could arrive at was £7072 at a well known high street retailerafter searching the net for days I found these guys called Clushpix that seem to have all the most expensive Nikon and Canon gear, the only thing is their prices are seriously low £5500 for a Nikon 600 mm vrii.
I make contact with a bloke via their phone number (he has poor english)but asks me to call back the next day and speak to his assistant.

The next day I call back eagerly as the price is too good to miss (same bloke answers)this time he has all the info that I require, when I ask if I can come and see and hold the lens he says"internet purchase only so I say I want to pay cash he says "we dont accept cash for security reasons" but you can do a bank transfer straight into our bank,I thank him and say goodbye.

The next day I send him a text asking for a photograph and a serial number, his reply text was internet purchase only and if I dont like the lens I can send it back within 7 days.

I asked him in my next text would he buy a car for £5500 without seeing it needless to say I have not heard from him again. anyone heard of clushpix.

if the price is too good to be true - it probably is

see if you can get him to send you a picture of him holding a fish on his head (as in 419 eater)

Sounds extremely like a scam in the back room of a flat type job.

No genuine retailer would mind sending photos, or letting you see the lens even if they are internet only. When I was hunting for a new top end laptop, I found what I was after from a "internet only" retailer, after calling them and talking to them and expressing my concerns over parting with so much money before seeing the goods, despite the distance trading laws, I managed to set up a private appointment where I was allowed to go to their warehouse and see the laptops I was after. No joke, it really was an internet only retailer, mediumish warehouse and I viewed the laptop in the staff break room

I'd give it a miss.

I think its funny that you are pursuing this 'company' at all - isn't it rather obvious from the word go that its just another scam? I would personally avoid all of these 'internet purchase only' retailers- the only exception might be HDEW, just because I've heard a lot of good things about them on here.

If you are about to spend 5.5K would you spend it anywhere where you have doubts on whether it is a scam in the first place?

:plusone:

Retail is a cutthroat business, it's just not possible to undercut by £1500 the price of any photographic item and still make a profit, of course it's a scam.

Have you tried Ian Kerr - he's KERSO on here and also trades on eBay.

He has very good prices on Canon equipment, not sure if he does Nikon, but well worth asking as he is highly recommended, by me and many other users on here.

Edit

Just found he now has a website

Accountants selling cameras now? :)

Either the company is in liquidation already or the accountants are registered as the business address for a scam business.

Their website claims they are chartered - shall we complain to their Institute an get them struck off? :naughty:
