Google have released a major update to Analog Efex Pro without making much fuss about it. It adds loads of stuff including control points.

It's not included in the automatic Nik updates, but existing customers can get AEP2 for free via https://plus.google.com/+NikPhotography/posts/CU5pyd3kTDo.

I hope this means that they're still developing the rest of the suite. Color Efex needs an update next, I think, and Viveza sorely needs to have its performance issues addressed. I'm not sure how Silver Efex Pro could be improved but it'd be nice to see something new there, too, if only to prove it hasn't been abandoned.

Brain Mataish was recently on the Grid, showcasing this new release. I believe he stated that the team in Germany are still working on various, previously Nik products.

Ah, thanks Charlie. I was going to leave both versions installed but I suppose there's not much point in keeping AEP1.

Yes, the release notes say updates are automatic (link). They certainly aren't on my machine - I can't even find a manual update button.
Yes. When I opened Photoshop there was pop-up window to say that Analog Efex Pro 2 was in my control panel or something like that

Ah, so you had to click on a link in the pop-up?

Just checked this myself. Update has happened automatically with no notification sent. Just removed the old version and everything seems fine.

Yep got the quiet update on mine. Had a filddle with it and it seems to be a simpler version of Silver FX Pro, less buttons to click on and more defaults. Not sure what this offers over silver fx other than a simpler interface.

Just checked mine an no automatic update. Downloading the trial as suggested..fingers crossed:)
