Somehow some scumbags got hold of my business bank account visa debit details and home address details (obviously hacked an online account somewhere), set up a paypal account and donated themselves £130 a couple of days ago. Paypal get a kicking most of the time for how they treat people and the charges they have in place, but there speed and efficiency in sort it out was excellent.

I called around 10am yesterday to report the payment had been made without my authorisation, very polite and knowledgeable lady dealt with the issue and explained I receive an email within 10 days (probably sooner) once they had investigated. 3pm the say day the email arrived and the money was winging its way back to my account.

After my recent bad experiences with Natwest, it was a nice and unexpected surprise for Paypal to deal with this so efficiently, so I'd though I'd share some positives for a change.

I got my Paypal account hacked a few months back.
I realised as I started getting emails on my phone saying thank you for your payment. At first I thought it was Phishing scam. But thougth I'd best check.

Yep sure enough another 4 emails saying payment sent then another 3-4 then another and another. So I phoned paypal and told them that it was being scammed currently. The operator said she could see them doing it. Then asked if Id just ordered from Dominos. Bing another email from dominos confirming my order.

All got sorted pretty quick. Although I bet the retailers lost out. But as a customer, I was pleased I wasn't out of pocket.

I got done for over £1000 a couple of years ago. Straight forward enough to get it resolved, but it I never worked out how they got my login details...

I got an email on my phone at 1am congratulating me on my new PS3 5D Mk II Etc

I rang paypal , the blocked it immediately and refunded the money within a few days

However my praise goes mostly to the US police

My address had been changed to one in Florida so I googled it and contacted the local sherif

Next morning I had a reply from a detective , by the evening they'd visited the address which was a Dropbox and shut it down

I doubt I'd have got the same response if I'd emailed the UK police if the address was here
