Opened for the first time in more than a year! :D and thought I would share the horrors!

Jobs done today:
- cleaning for dust, almost nothing in case, but loads in cooling unit
- replaced system drive with a Samsung 840 SSD
- replaced "old" 1TB datadrive with new 2TB drive
- water should be replaced, but looks fine, so just a top-up

Next month the build will be two years old, have been running absolutely steady, not a glitch.

Fairly quiet with only a faint hum from the waterpump... here are some shots from today...

Seeing those, maybe I really needs to change the water... maybe some new tubes as well... hmmm....

Have a nice day,
Jan.

I'm with Neil - looks like you have algae growing in your loop... Another Fractal case user I see ;) :D

Going with both Neil and Andy....

Change that water!! :gag:

It's probably got its own Eco system now :D

The hoses are probably stiff and likely to leak/split if left any longer, so new hoses could be in order.
Cleaning of the blocks will mean taking them apart, check the o-rings, replace if necessary, also check the pump impeller and o-rings.

Oh the joys of liquid cooling :)

Nice build but have you not heard about using antistatic precautions. You remember the antistatic bag your motherboard was packaged with, use that instead of an old towel next time you decide to remove you motherboard.

I know this is tempting fate but... A towel is hardly a place you'd get static.... You should see how little care I take with my stuff

Ditto I have never used the antistatic bags or wrist straps in all the time I have been doing self builds.

Yes! love the Fractals! 4th build btw.!
Heavy, well-dampened and beautiful crafted cases!

Ah! come on! Don't be such a girl! ...oh, wait! :D

But proud to say, the "water" is perfectly fine and clear. What you're seeing is nicotine colored tubes!! Sticks like hell to the soft plastic! :gag:

Btw. you can see the liquid in the first shot through the reservoir against the yellowish wall, it's still very clear. And doesn't smell at all.

The tubes are also perfectly fine still. And bloody well they should be, considering the price I had to pay for them! :cuckoo:

My summerproject is to rebuild the system into a table-leg/-cabinet. Completely hiding the system... I shall post the project here for your amusement!

Have been working on drawings/sketches for quite a while now, so no disassembling blocks or anything else until rebuild.

The pump is a little EK, but will be replaced by a noiseless Laing.

Nice build but have you not heard about using antistatic precautions...
Have been working with computers since 1984 - must have build more than 300 by now - and still have to experience any electrostatic problems... but I know, what you mean! :)

Actually, one of the worst places to put it... Suprisingly the outer part of the anti static bag stores a charge. The inside of the bag is where its safe...

Check out the linus's tech tips video on it!

Very nice looking pc! Loop looks like it needs a clean but it takes no time!

Exactly!

I'm a huge fan of Linus tech tips but Carey Holzman did a video on this. Based on that and personal experience I'm perfectly happy using the static bag to rest my motherboard on though more often than not I tend to use the motherboard box itself. Never had any problems.
