I asked not long ago about putting my prices on my website, Ive since decided its not a good idea, but should I make a price list as a word document to email to potential customers? Maybe the design should mirror the website? I am all about keeping things uniform :)

Dont worry, I am not asking for pricing advice, I am really going to try hard and do that myself ;)

They could always change the word document ;) An alternative would be to create the price list in word with your logos etc then download Doro PDF printer thing (free) which will create a PDF file. Would look professional also! :)

Personally i would create it in word and send it on demand and i agree about making it the same style as your website, it will make it look very professional.

I really must learn to refresh before i post a comment, sorry about being repetitive.:bonk:

They could change it, but I would always have the original ;)

Good idea with the PDF though

The only problem i can foresee with you having the original, they could always say that you have doctored the price from the price quoted. The PDF is the better idea.

If I create something with Word, will it be easy to convert to a PDF?

Or should I just make it from scratch as the PDF?

you can alter a pdf as well ;) - but I agree pdf is easier to open (more standard), Word can be a strange thing, with margins etc going out of line.

We used to send a newsletter out to our customers (Schools) in Word and many would have less or more advanced versions and we always had calls.

Stick with a PDF.

You can stop a PDF from being edited - unless you use photoshop but then anything can be edited really. It would just help add a little extra security.

Open Office (free) has a feature to export to PDF, I use it all the time

Actually, Ive found a save option in Word that saves to PDF :D Problem solved

Now to work out my prices... ;)

Hi

You said at the beginning you decided against not putting your prices on your website. Why is that most photographers don't put their prices on their website. Have any you tried with and without prices, if so which did you find worked best for you.

I have put my prices on my website but am unsure as to whether this is working to my advantage or not as yet.

The prices are not on my website at all, I think its a better idea to compile a price list to distribute as and when :)

The way I do things also!! Especially as I don't have set packages or prices anyway...I thought it'd put people off contacting me, thinking they might not be bothered to write a mail...but suprisingly enquiries haven't dropped at all and it allows me to be more creative with my quotes!

Worry about making the document look good. Worry about making sure the prices work for you! Don't worry about the idea of people changing your price list if you send them one. What difference does it make?

I could download a pricelist from Aston Martin............... you get the idea. ;)

The more stuff you have ready to send off to people (on your iphone of course) the better. Prices, samples, FAQ's and some general info about your style, how you work and why you're the one they want to book with. It's all good and sometimes it's good to be able to turn enquiries round quickly.

Indeed, guess Ill have to make something else to go with the price list then
