Evening guys

I've had fibre to the premises infinity installed today and finally download speed is good, the promised 36 minimum and i'm getting 38 down, but upload speeds are still shocking at less than 1.5mbs

did your speeds settle after a few days or do I have a problem on the upload side of things?

Just got it today, busy changing everything to newsettings etc.
Ruddy ell, you dont realise how much gear you have until you have to change it all!
Will check speeds tomorow when I can.

Speeds for me (my ISP isn't BT but Clara.Net but from here to my ISP backbone is Openreach) when I had FTTC installed was 68 down, 16 up from day one. It would be unusual to be so unbalanced (down vs up) unless you are on a 40/2 product (all Sky is 40/2 for example). What profile are you on with Infinity?

i have no idea what profile it is, the engineer who installed the fibre cable into my house (goes directly into the modem) said my exchange was a trial as they're going to run voice coms through fibre too in the next year or so.

I haven't had to set anything up, afaik the engineer just plugged my existing home hub 3 into the modem via the ethernet cable, all the wifi stuff remained the same.

When I first got the call from BT asking me if I wanted infinity they said i'd get 36 down and 9 up which sounds about right,

I've tried several different servers for the test, all have similar download speeds, the ping is lower for manchester, liverpool and birmingham servers but the up speed is pretty much the same.

63ms ping isn't right

is what I get with a simple speedtest. I've had as low a ping as 4ms. This is to a good server in Switzerland...

That was to a server on the other side of the country while another machine was streaming YouTube videos, on the other tests it was between 12 and 32.
