This has always bewildered me, and it is way off topic, but it is something that has always puzzled me and I never got the courage to ask.

This past NYE, I was in London for the event and saw so many girls / women / ladies in ultra short mini skirts. Although this is something seen a lot, the temperature around midnight was floating around 0C and this made the whole sight stick with me as I was freezing even though I was wearing so many layers to try and keep myself warm (and I mean so so so many layers that I would be embarrassed to even tell how many, but I was still freezing).

How is it that girls in ultra short skirts don't get cold?

I have often been told so, by the many females I know who dare not venture out like that; but I believe it is not that!

Well, I don't know then, I walked home early hours New Years day, about 2.5 miles, I had more kit on than if I was skiing and there were girlies coming the other way and also in town in short skirts and vest tops, it was about -6 when I left my mates house !
 
... and the b****r part of all this is that they don't look the bit cold / freezing!
 
Been a few years since I have done this, but my secret was always wine before venturing out and then frequent vodka top ups!

Most of the girls i have asked that question are actually freezing cold, just blantant stupidy in them thinking that they need to wear to said skirt to pull, plus enough achol in the system you dont feel the cold.

Tights are suposed to be suprisingly warm to, as many of my mates in the building trade tell me, personally i have never tried that myself as i dont feel the cold as much as some seem to, but have windproof cycling tights that i wear if the temps get low with cold wind. Its the wind that makes you feel cold.

Oh yes, I shot a few 100s shots (not all up girls' skirts .. I am not that much of a perv.). As Lightroom 1.4 doesn't recognise my D700 NEF files, and I am not too keen on converting my NEFs to DNG. Hence, I've migrated to Aperture, which should be here Monday, when I will be able to upload my shots and see what I've got .. may be post a few.

But take it from me, these were so short that you'd be able to see more than you'd bargained for .. much to the pleasures of the male population on the Embankment :p

OK, it seems I'll be off to M&S tomorrow to buy me a few pairs of tights. I just hope they do them in my size, and that no one thinks of me as being weird.

Just shows how far I'm willing to go, to make sure I'm kept warm.
 
i believe its something in the chemicals in alcopops that numbs girls senses :P

I should hope so too....what with the considerable expense to you in upgrading to full frame - shouldn't that get more in the frame so to speak? :thinking: :suspect:

my GF has just told me the answer! it's fashion, thats all she said so i'm more confused now!
 
thats why i like the glass dance floor in cahoots... its what short skirts were made for
 
Please understand, this is getting more confusing :thinking:

Is it fashion, the drinks before going out, the tights, or a mix of all three?

As a guy, I dare never try to test this, so I can only hope that some definitive reply coes along.

Please note, I am not complaining about this at all .. it's just that I am very curious.
 
lol i dunno my ex wore suspenders not tights, but im guessing they keep u warm too
 
I believe it's to stop them getting puke on their skirts when they end up vomiting in the gutter.
 
dont question the mysteries of womenkind or the mysterious way the female brain works... just enjoy it :D
