A question about a Crumpler bag strap

I have recently purchased a Crumpler Daily 490 bag. It's a great bag and holds all my equipment safely.

The only complaint I have concerns the shoulder strap which is very stiff and has very little flexibility in it. It also digs into the base of my neck when carrying the bag. I can't change the strap as it's fixed to the bag.

Is there anything I can do to make the strap more supple? i.e. soak it in water or apply anything to it?

if its the same as my old crumpler laptop bag i wouldnt say so but that had a padded section

I have had a look at the laptop bag but it's completely different to the bag I have.

the shoulder pad on the bag strap should be removable, you could buy a new pad and put that on so it would be more comfortable

The shoulder pad is fine, it's the actual strap I need to soften up.

Iv'e got a crumpler shoulder bag and they do soften with age, i sat with mine for a couple of hours just twisting and manipulating the strap and helped quite a bit, iv'e heard of people soaking them but iv'e never done it so can't say if it works.
