a poem for Mr Gove

If she put as much effort into teaching as writing the poem and then filming and editing the video she wouldn't be letting the children down.

She isn't even a bloody teacher, just using the teachers hatred of Gove to gain publicity for an upcoming show she is doing.

I have shown this to my wife (a teacher and over all nerd in all that is special education) and it made her cry.......it is just as she says......my wife is in school from 7 am until 6 pm and she comes home to at least another 2 hours of marking.....her free periods are taken up by endless meetings about meetings (watch w1a on Iplayer as it reminds her of school meetings) and phone calls to parents..

And as Dale says about getting another job....she has just resigned and got another job and she can't wait to start.......

Duh!

She's a poet. That's the point. She writes and performs poetry.

Are you saying that poets are only allowed to write poetry about things they personally do?

Do you have beef with Steven Spielberg for directing films about stuff he has never experienced, how dare he direct a movie about war!
 
Stirring up teachers is only beaten by stirring up mums on mums net in terms of (a) how easy (b)accuracy not being a requirement

If you read the DFE publication from the 27th March on assessment and accountability and the section in the back full if teacher feedback or the NHAT surveys on the new curriculum. The new curriculum is generally liked (although completely understood).

You will also learn that you can never ever ever make a teacher happy. ;)
 
Canon - I have seen various poems/songs written and performed by teachers. It is just an easy obvious topic. It's like choosing to criticise the landed gentry in the middle of a council estate. Of course you will get support.
 
Archangel - schools and authorities don't like that level of work. Work life balance is part of the head teachers review and should be passed down to staff. If it is not happening then there are processes failing bin that school.

But you were berating her for not being a teacher. Are only teachers allowed to write poems about teaching?

Fixed it again ;)

Some schools are run poorly in the same ways some companies are run poorly or you have bad managers. Working in a bad school isn't indicative of all schools. I have been the last person to leave a school at 4:45pm, yet other schools have staff regularly there till past 6. How come some teachers have twice the workload of other teachers doing the same job with same responsibility in a different school? Do teachers in outstanding schools work longer/harder or do they work smarter?
