A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Thanks Lisa :)

The lifeboat was great, made the whole building shake as it was launched.

Glad you like the angle in today's, angled shots really are my style now, not to everyone's taste, but I love 'em

Thanks Dave, I really love these apartments from an architectural perspective. It's right next to the wall of the historic dockyard in Portsmouth

20th November: BLUENOTE

Continuing my week of not having the most appropriate lens for the situation, I had my 100-400 zoom lens with me and found in damn difficult to take a shot today whilst making a quick lunchtime visit to Port Solent. Ended up with this grab shot taken at 400mm looking in between the rows of moored boats. Oh well it will it's a shot....

Processed with my old friend the bleach bypass filter in Color Efex, also increased the contrast brightness on the 'bluenote' tarp

Love the processing on this Julian. Must admit I'm enjoying the trial version of Silver eFex but can't decide whether I should buy Colour eFex instead

21st November: RIP - Rust in Peace

I knew I had a chance to grab a shot before the rains came, but inspiration was not with me today, until I noticed a big pile of rusting boat chains near the lifeboat station. I explained to an old timer nearby I was not mad (maybe he wasn't convinced), just taking shots for my project. He explained that these chains would end up as weights at the bottom of the sea, RIP!

Curves, levels adjustments in Photoshop and Color Stylizer used to give it the rusty contrast.

Noticed we have 40 more shots to go (for those of us who started on on 1st of Jan), anybody thinking of another 365? I know I'm not, in fact I'm really looking forward to not having to do a shot each day. I'm starting to formulate some ideas of mini projects, plus I'll probably do a 52 I reckon.

What about the rest of you . . . ?

I'm tempted with a 52. 365 will be a definte no-no. I've also been thinking of starting a blog of some kind. Not sure what on to be honest, I'll maybe decide in the new year when my inspiration returns.

Dam you and your texture shots!
Another good one mate.
I know for sure I wont be doing a 365 project, but I will expect to be shooting a lot, at least 5 days a week probably more.
What I'll be shooting won't be much fun for a 365 though.

22nd November: The power of the sea.

Some stunning weather today (if strong wind and rain are your thing). Took out the old camera, as I knew we would get soaked. This shot was taken under the pier (what's left of it) at Bognor Regis. Just a few brief minutes taking a couple of shots makes you feel alive in these weather conditions (well maybe my old canon does not think so).

Processed in Photoshop and Silver Efex Pro, applied high contrast red filter, with a number of structure/contrast control points on the pier legs, Ilford Delta 100 pro film type and split tone applied, phew!

Like it. :)

Is the 5d just a trailer queen then? :p

You are really tempting me with this silver efex, I will have to see what the trial is like..

Thanks mate.
I just choose to use old gear in this weather :)

Awesome sense of power in that photo, and great conversion, i am think about silver efex thing, may try the trial..

Thanks Bill

I know all of you will succumb to Silver Efex at somepoint ;)

Thanks Jonny, I've tried all kinds of static objects around the house tonight. With nights like this I can't wait for Jan 1st ;)

Blimey have just got to the end of this from the very beginning3(over 3 days):gag:, I can see why you wouldn't want to do it again! But wow you have really give me some food for thought!:D And I am always out of ideas, but you have made me look at things differently. I have liked all of your shots....still thinking about the trolley shot....but it is easy to see how you have improved over the year....I am thinking you should use the 5D more:thumbs:....it is there to be used!

But all in all congratulations, I feel very privileged to have been able to follow your journey in 3 days, what has taken you a year! Thankyou for all the ideas and inspiration...I will now try to apply some of your thinking to the Australian environment!

P.s I like angled shots....love it being on the skew!

Wow such kind words. I'd really like to thank you for spending time looking over all my shots. I looked back myself recently and can see that I've improved, both in my ability take shots and process them.

Please let me know when you start your own work on the Australian environment. Having been to Oz myself I know you have some fantastic subject matter, so would love to see your work.

Thanks again for your time and comments ;)

24th November: Nice view, shame about the conversation

All sorts of PS tweaks and Color Efex Pro bleach bypass filter with various control points

No problems....where in Aus have you been? I would love to get out into the outback and take shots, but I struggle enough to get out in and around Melbourne! :shake:

Aus is so varied and I see so little of it on a daily basis....

I am going to have to start carry my camera around more as I keep seeing shots when I don't have it...usually on my way to work!
