A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Good idea Julian, damn you!!

I'd have togged the game, The d90 isn't weather sealed and it's put up with a fair soaking.

Thanks Jonny. The rain was so heavy I probably could have not seen the controls on the camera ;)

Hope your not aching to much today I shouldnt laugh, i wanna start riding again and that is pain for days after!

Thanks, the aching is only just really starting to kick in, ouch :(

3rd September: Thatch Mono Contrast.

Played around with all sorts in Photoshop tonight, to bring out as much contrast as possible. Not the shot I planned for tonight, but this local thatched building caught my eye.

4th September: 'Red' Arrow

Gutted, had no idea the Red Arrows were putting on a display in Portsmouth today, until I heard the jets from my office, ran outside into the car park and watched the display. Great I had my camera with me, bad I only had a macro lens on it. Luckily the full frame 5D2 allowed me to crop the image (from 5616x3744 to 2524x1768), I then had to be a bit creative ;)

Thanks Dave, the negative processing turning the sky red worked well.

Yeah, I'm really slack at keeping updated with whats going on, as you know ;)
Must check more often.

5th September: Bald Eagle at the Hawk Conservancy Trust, Andover.

Had a great day out with Alby (Ajophotog), Andy (Andy_Fozzy) and Dave (Dave Kiddle). Took a load of shots and 99% are stinkers. Needless to say I need a LOT of practice photographing birds, especially in flight. This shot is heavily cropped, ISO 400, at 400mm, 1/400, Av 5.6.

In terms of keepers, this was one of my worst days, but great to have a meet up at last with some of the guys, thanks for a great day ;)

God that's detailed. Dave puts people off photographing Julian, seems to be a recurring theme. It was white lens envy wasn't it??

Thanks Jonny, I knew before even looking at my photos what the result would be, based on the fact that I could here the shutters going on Dave's and the others cameras, whilst I did not even have my viewfinder to my eye :)

Great detail in that shot Julian - superb!
....
Yep, me too!

Thanks Dave, I've got no excuses, can't blame the camera or the lens, only the 'monkey' behind it :D

I'm sure you have a fair few decent shots, from some of the images you showed us on the camera ;)

Hey Julian, I'm still busy pressing the delete button more than the keep button! Most of mine are total carp!

Hiya Julian.
Nice to meet you today. Hope there will be more occasions that you can join us

And you and Dave aren't the only ones with a bunch of carp shots. I have my fair share too!!!!

Not lens envy, operator envy, as I say, no excuses, I need a bucket load of practice, well outside my 'static object' comfort zone today.

Great to meet all of you today, really enjoyed, regardless of the trash on my CF card.

BTW, I didn't see any 'Carp' today :D

Thanks folks :)

Had a hard choice yesterday, pond shot or a bright green 1972 Capri with ford 5litre V8. Will take shots of the Capri another (couldn't be more different) ;)

7th September: Slice!

First time I've got around to a shot of the obligatory fruit slice in fizzy pop. It's actually a slice of orange (but looks like lemon). Image is cropped (didn't like seeing the entire center of the fruit, seemed to affect the composition. All sorts of processing in Photoshop (High pass filter, Noiseware filter, curves, levels, contrast). This was the last shot I took, as the batteries were failing in my Speedlight, just got away with it I think (also had some cheap spotlights each side of the glass).

27th August: Castle wall flowers

A selective colouring nightmare!

Looks like a bit of a challenge

28th August: Porchester Castle revisited

Went back to Porchester for another pic today, like the challenge of only using the nifty fifty, makes you search out the compositions, rather than relying on a zoom lens.

Lovely processing and conversion on this one Julian

31st August: Local Barn

This is a full on in ya face unashamed HDR image. Been ages since I've done a HDR image so wanted one that went BANG! What a day weather wise, fog, mist and rain in the morning, then bright blue skies this afternoon. My wife spotted this barn in the next village as a photo opportunity, so as soon as the blue skies appeared I went to take some shots. Composition wise I was after almost equal distribution of each part of the subject, sky, rusty roof, wood and foliage. Had to wait an age for the clouds to get into frame to add the little bit of interest to an otherwise total blue sky.

Lovely example of ROT's Julian - works really well

Certainly different processing on this one, but it works really well :)

If this is the result of a 'bad' day, i'd quit happily swap you at the moment - no time or enthusiasm at the moment :(
