A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

28th August: Porchester Castle revisited

Went back to Porchester for another pic today, like the challenge of only using the nifty fifty, makes you search out the compositions, rather than relying on a zoom lens.

Not sure on yesterdays mate, I hate selective colouring for a reason.

Have to agree, sorry SM.

Today's is much more like it, 50mm on FF is wideish isn't it?? The detail is class.

50mm on 35mm/FX is normal, on a crop body it's telephotoish.

29th August: Little fishing boat

Still searching out interesting crops using only the nifty fifty :)

What a week!!! put our house on the market and accepted an offer within 3 days, had an offer accepted on the house we wanted today also. We're moving to the seaside (fingers crossed) :) :) :)

Now that one... I like
Primary colours and the texture in that concrete are great.

Thanks Jonny, as I only had the fifty, I decided the concrete block added more (as there was nothing in top of the boat) moving back just added more clutter to the scene.

Hate moving too, just hope it goes ok ;)

30th August : Airspeed Horsa Mk2 glider, Operation Market Garden

Taken at The Museum of Army Flying, Middle Wallop. Again using only the nifty fifty, this was a challenging location to take shots, no tripods allowed and very dark, this was at ISO2500. Standing next to me whilst taking the picture was a WWII veteran that saw active service inside one of these. Amazing to think that they were towed into battle then released with little control, in an aircraft made of wood in a furniture factory!

Thanks mate

Haha, I was thinking that they look like Action men too, but I promise this was life size.

31st August: Local Barn

This is a full on in ya face unashamed HDR image. Been ages since I've done a HDR image so wanted one that went BANG! What a day weather wise, fog, mist and rain in the morning, then bright blue skies this afternoon. My wife spotted this barn in the next village as a photo opportunity, so as soon as the blue skies appeared I went to take some shots. Composition wise I was after almost equal distribution of each part of the subject, sky, rusty roof, wood and foliage. Had to wait an age for the clouds to get into frame to add the little bit of interest to an otherwise total blue sky.

You keep taking the shots I want to take but just don't have the vision for.
Not sure if I'm starting to go off you

Haha Thanks mate, that is funny, I would tell you what I have planned for tomorrow, but know idea yet ;)

To be fair I think most of us probably have a peeling paint door and rusty barn roof and blue sky to shoot, don't they ;)

Thanks Jonny, gotta say I really miss your urbex shots. I love that type of photography more than anything else and would love to do more myself. Need more JD Urbex !!!!

Great shots Julian. Love the Boat :)

Todays is a great shot. The colours are fabulous, doesn't look HDR at all.

Just a shame you couldn't have got higher and got the greenery out of the shot just leaving the three bands of colours - would have been a better shot IMHO - but that's taking nothing away from it as it is :)

Thanks Dave, I was expecting the Land owner to appear, but never did. I didn't mind the green in the shot, but could have been interesting being higher up, getting more of the fantastic roof in. So step ladder is another item of kit I need to add when off taking shots ;)

Love that shot, the colours are fab.

Is that a birdie i spot inside the fenced stable?

Thanks Lisa.

Ahh I see what you mean, looks like a bird, but think it was some old rag :)

1st September: Sunsail Sunfast 37 yachts at Port Solent. The largest matched fleet in the world.

Matched fleet? basically it means that all yachts are the same (i.e. matched). Useful when you want to race against other yachts, you know they are equal ;)

Nothing is ever equal in racing :)
Are these in a race? or is there another reason for them to all be there at the same time?

This is where this fleet is based, at Port Solent. Been there on many lunch breaks, but never seen this number of Sunsail Sunfast 37's in at once, must have been around 50.

Wonder if the owners get confused which is theirs

Ive seen it done with cars

They are all owned by Sunsail, but I bet it take a while to find the boat number of the one you charted with this many in ;)

2nd September: To tired for my 'Daily Picture'!

Played football for the first time in 5 years after work, in monsoon conditions, sure I'm going to feel the pain in the morning :(

Cool idea!
Should have togged the game rather than exerting yourself :D

Thanks

I had planned to tog the game, had the perfect idea too, but a camera would not have lasted very long in the conditions we endured.
