A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Thanks Angi - hope your feeling a bit better and would love to see a 52 of macro frogs/lizards etc ;)

13th May: Macro Pepper

I hope my canon is not broken

No flash used (5D2 does not have one and I don't have an external one yet), just light from my 2 crappy lights that came with my lens tent.

14th May: Old English Barn
3 shot AEB, HDR processed in Photomatix, then final curves, dodge & burn, slight light vignette added to give it a kind of old photo look in PS

The barns were not that interesting (bit dissapointing after a short trip out to photo them), but I liked the way the track snaked around the buildings, each to their own I guess. I was happy with the processing though ;-)

I like the chicken one! Must have been even more fun getting all the stange looks!

I was thinking . . . what chicken one  Then I remembered the 'Rotisserie chicken shot'

Yeah had some very strange looks, sure they were about to call the funny farm and have me taken away :police:

Thanks for looking :)

I like that one - I am just reading a biography of Thomas Hardy and the photo looks like something out of his life.

Thanks nicnok, that's kind of the look I was after, although as I mentioned I got there expecting to find rusting old farm equipment etc, but nothing, so that's when I decided that I had to use the track to lead the eye in and around the photo.

Looks nicely processed, but I have a feeling I might prefer the colour version, as nothing really draws the eye in the mono version.

Thanks Chris, yeah sometime the simple objects in life look really cool up close ;)

Thanks nicnok, not even considered that view :D

My sister visited with her dog(s), so our cat had to go outside. lets just say they were ready to go ;)

16th May: The old and the new.
In dry dock, HMS M33 Monitor class coastal bombardment vessel built for action in WWI 1915. Behind her is HMS Daring (D32) Type 45 Air defence destroyer, arrived here at Portsmouth earlier this year, the Royal Navy's newest ship, she is the most advanced warship in the world, yeah!!!

;) yeah took loads of shots of the Spinnaker tower (well it is impressive) and then we went into the historic Royal Navy dockyard, I was like a kid in a candy shop. Needless to say, I will be getting a season pass on next visit, so more ship shots to come (HMS Warrior, HMS Victory, etc)

I am going to have to try and find the Swiss navy soon. There really is one apparently!

I thought you were joking, now you just have to find a ship now and take a shot for your 365, that would be so cool :)

Look forward to it Julian, the only ships I see say P&O on the side.

Thanks. I love any ship, as long as it's big or has seen action.

Right then - apparently they have 10 of these:

Swiss Navy

If you hear of an Englishman being arrested in Switzerland for spying now you know who is is

Wow, with 10 of these you could invade the Isle of Arran, or some other rocky outcrop :)

I like the last ship shot, lots of interesting things to look at there :)

I went to the Spinnaker tower last year when I was working nearby, it is very impressive. Great views from the top too :)

I haven't done a ship shot yet ...

Hi Julian, I'd thought I'd have a good ol' TP catch-up session and decided to take myself to this thread.
And I'm glad to say that I did as there are a lot of brilliant photos in here. I LOVE that cat & dog one. I honestly thought it was a mirror or you did some clever photoshop trickery to it, but when I realised the whole thing was real, it had the effect of making me go tingly (I get like that when I really like something, whether it's a good bit of music, video or picture).
Although I never reply to every thread going, please don't assume because there's not enough interest going around, far from it as I enjoy looking at your work. Keep it up and looking forward to seeing more of the same. Good work!
