A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Just catching up again some more cracking shots mate really liking Grab Shot, and What Lurks behind, like toe low agle on Hey Down here too good work mate keep it up.

Thanks Sean :)

Would love to be in your situation I upgraded from a 350D to a 40D last May massive difference in usability for me the 40D is a joy, the controls are so much better laid out but I find myself wanting a 5D markII now but I would still keep the 40D for the burst speed. Good luck whatever you decide Im sure you will enjoy it.

Yeah I know, feel like a kid with the keys to the sweet shop, although I obviously have to give it some serious thought. I'm, currently swaying towards D300 and 3 lenses (16-85 VR, zoom and a macro).

Hey, Down here! is a great shot

Thanks Chilli, just mucking around at playtime, but in the end I really liked this shot too.

15th Mar: The car carrier Grande Ellade arriving at Southampton Western Docks. Both my girls were sound asleep in the car until she sounded her horn :)

Seriously considering upgrading to D300 (over a FF 5D mkII/D700), with 16-85 VR lens and a macro (105mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR) and a zoom or tele (300mm f/4 ED-IF looks very nice), so any advice would be well appreciated :)

just catching up -- some of these shots are sensational!

I love the HDR one with the lifering, my first computer is just brilliant, I love the look on her face, reminds me of me when I was little and intent on playing my spectrum!! The one with the hand coming around the door gave me goosebumps and Hey Down Here is fab. I love this 365, keep 'em coming!

Will be very exciting to see what you can come up with when you have your new toy!

Thanks Kitten, felt I had a good week last week, so it's really great to have your feedback :)

With regards to new gear, I know it's going to be hard to know what to get, even if I settle on a D300 I have to decide on lenses.

16th Mar: Sea of Daffodils. Drove past these yesteraday in town, looked fantastic, so went and took this shot today, does not really do them justice (plus I felt a bit silly standing in all these dafs with my tripod, next to 2 lanes of fast moving traffic).

Still think I'm set on going Nikon, but keep reading rumours about the D400, seeing as I've had the 350D since was first released, I may wait a little longer, at least with a view to some some proper details on the D400 so I can compare with the D300.

Like the picture of the car carrier - that thing must be huge in the flesh

Was it delivery or collecting (considering the amount of new cars we have satnding around unsold at the moment!)

She was a decent size (over 180m long), had to take the girls to the swings, so didn't get a good look at what was inside. There were loads of Honda CRV's all parked at the dock just behind her.

Ha ha, I love the training day image, great idea.
THe HDR is good, it doesnt really look like an HDR.
But my favourite from the last week has to be the Grimaldi shot, the reflections in the water really bring it to life, lovely.

Thanks Zarozinia, yes didn't realise at the time, but the reflection in the water does look good :)

Just having a catchup, I've been really busy this weekend, I love the Ship Shot. (poet and don't know it?) Everything about it!! The sky, colour, reflection, sharpness, scale....

Thanks JD, I'm sure my 365 will have many big ship shots from Southampton, I just love em (I really am turning into a ship spotter :geek: )

The ship shot is great - really like the colours and the reflections (and I like looking at ships too) :)

That's a good number of daffodils you found there too!

Try as I could, no amount of lens distortion correction could fix this house, still looks wonky

Great picture! A very worn-in house! :)

The textures are great, love the colours of the door. Well spotted :)

Thanks, Ooo would be good to see some ship shots from you too :geek:

I've added it to my list :D

Thanks all, I really like shots of interesting textures, peeling and flaking paint, etc (with boosted contrast to make them stand out). I'm on the search for more in my local area for further 365 shots :)

Two good shots - that house would make great material for an HDR image.

The bubbles shot is fabulous, with all the colours and reflections, pin sharp too - you couldve entered it into the monthly competition.

Thanks folks :)

The bubbles shot is an idea from the latest Digital camera magazine - 'Funky Macros'. Basically water, washing up liquid, some green food dye and a straw to make the bubbles. not what I planned, but when I saw the polarized window reflections I thought it was even better than the shot I set out to get.

Now that you have given that secret away watch out for the copycats over the next days. (hurredly pencil in that idea for the weekend - it sounds like something the boys would like too, though I am not sure about my wife :D )

I love the bubbles! :)

Really good effect too, thanks for explaining it, because I want a go now too :D

19th Mar: The towns new river walkway.

Rushed out the door, with my camera in the crumpler bag from yesterday, forgot it still had the Tamron 90mm macro lens on, Doh! :bonk:

20th Mar: Rushed out to grab a sunset shot in the woods near my house, but got there just a little too late. A crazy curves adjustment in PS gave it this surreal tye die impact.

Strange day, tried all sort's of different shots, probably because we had over 500 job cuts announced in UK/Ireland today, all my remaining colleagues in Ireland from last years cuts have been given the elbow, we don't find out until next month who is gone in the UK, but I'm sure I will be, oh well, I had a good run.

A real shame about the job cuts mate, I sympathise. My work are really dragging their feet as far as redundancies go and we haven't heard a thing about what's happening yet.

The last photo is mental! It looks like the end of the world. A shame you cut the top of the tree off, but it's still lovely! :D

Thanks liss, JD.

Yeah, was so rushed only noticed the bad crop when I got back, oh well, one of those days

Today's picture's great - I really like things like that, with bright colours and silhouettes :)

Never seen a yellow Fordson before! :) :geek:

Nice picture, like the low angle. Shame it isn't being used anymore though!

Thanks, my 3 year old loves playing on these tractors at our local farm park. They have a number of Fordsons, this resprayed yellow one was just crying out to be photographed :)

loving the bubbles and the house in particular. Going to be giving the bubbles a go myself i think, or at least something similar. Love the rainbow effect.
