A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

23rd October: Post Box

Topical shot today, as it's the 2nd day of the national postal strike.

Thanks Lisa, I've always wanted to take a picture of this post box, it's in a wall of a house.

No post for us yesterday, looked like our post today was delivered by a RM manager too ;)

Very unusual, the contrast between the post box red and pastelly blue works very well

24th October: By the light of a near empty fridge . . .

Due to house moving activities, not a lot of time for photo malarkey (or filling the fridge).

Taken at ISO 3200 and then processed with bleach bypass filter (my fav).

25th October: 'Battle of El Alamein' Commemoration Day in my village

In 1918 the Enham village centre was founded to rehabilitate, employ and house those who had been wounded in active service and provide shelter and support for them and their families. During the inter war years, Enham continued to help disabled ex-servicemen and their families.

In 1945, Enham village settlement received a gift of £225,000 from the people of Egypt in appreciation of, and their gratitude for, the gallantry of the Allied Forces in the battle of El Alamein in Egypt in 1942. In recognition of this tremendous gift (worth around £6 million today), the village of Enham was renamed Enham Alamein. St George's, the Alamein Church in Enham Alamein is the internationally recognised memorial church for the battle of El Alamein, with visitors coming from all over the world.

Whilst typing this, they fired that gun, made me jump.

Thanks Lisa, even though I was expecting the gun to be fired (the brass band had stopped playing too), it still made me jump in my seat :)

A catch up for Jonny. :D

Don't know why but I find the broken slat on the seat shot a bit distracting, once I noticed it I couldn't stop looking at it.

Nice processing in the cans. I'll have to try and find some LR presets. ;)

Thanks Jonny, Not much I could do about the broken slat, it's part of the pier, it's a bit run down ;)

26th October: Rundown Industrial Estate

Spotted this abandoned building in my local industrial estate last week, wanted to take it daylight, but had to grab this shot on the way home, no flash used, shot at ISO 12800, and all sorts of tweaks applied in Silver Efex Pro

Hmm,
most of the site I work at looks like this, and I moan that I can't find anything to take a picture of...
You have really good vision bud.

Actually, thinking about it, photography is banned there!
Maybe the no photography sign could be tomorrows pic? Security gate is near to it, so I'd have to be a bit sneaky...:suspect:

They sure do ;)

Reckon there is a way in (way to dark to go looking on the way home tonight), as I'm moving on Wednesday I will not be able to investigate further.

That´s the perfect angle for this motive. Processing is great as well.
In daylight these playces look boring, but with the right perspective and some good processing the become premiums.

Thanks 78, your right, when I look back at the original shot, it looks nothing in comparison to this processed shot.

Thanks Bill/Lisa, I really like how his shot turned out, like Jonny I love abandoned buildings :)

This is my last post for a week or more, moving tomorrow, no idea when I will have Broadband access again.....

:'( we'll miss you mate.

Look forward to your return

And good luck with the move, apparently the most stressful thing you can do. :gag:

Back, but with no Broadband access at home.....

27th October: Goodbye old house....

The last full day in our old house, so I thought this was a nice shot to remember it by.

29th October: The view from the end of my road

First full day in our new house (and my Birthday), not much time for photography, but walked to the bottom of the road to catch a bit of a sunset against the walkway to the lifeboat station (I processed it a bit).

Thanks Bill, Lisa, Jonny :)

No home internet access for maybe 3 weeks :( so have very little time to check out posts from work, will have a big catchup later in the week.
