It's been 10 days now since we started our new way of eating. It's not a diet, just eating better.

Every 10 days from now on, Chris will be sitting down and going through our new cookery books. He'll pick 10 recipes, then I go to the Tesco website and purchase all of the ingredients for home delivery. No more faffing around in Tesco for Chris. Not to mention there is now less chance of him coming home with the wrong items :lol:.

The first ten days were a real success, and I can tell you that Chris has 110% improved on his cooking skills! I think the recipe books are the key, as they are simple to follow and the images are appealing, yet realistic. I can not begin to tell you how alive my taste buds have become in the last 10 days.

Last night we had a Chinese takeaway. Afterwards it hit us just how bland it in fact was. No more crappy foods in this house thank you very much! :D No more processed, cheap foods that may well take only minutes to cook ... but taste like pants in comparison to a home - cooked from scratch - meal.

I'm going to try and document our journey for a healthier way of eating. So please check back for pictures of tantalising tasty meals, that will hopefully inspire you to.

101 Meals For Two

Jo, I will be definitely following this, I've been trying to wean myself off takeaways and trying to cook a lot more. Not only is it healthier and cheaper it also tastes better!!

The 101 one pot recipes looks really interesting. :thumbs:

Thank you both. Hopefully I should be able to upload todays meal this evening :D I think we are having chicken something or other in cider :D

Mmmmm.

Here's the first for you! Well it's actually the third, but I totally forgot to take a shot of the last couple of nights :$.

If Chris was to cook this one again, he needs to improve the sauces' consistency, as it was a little bit too liquefied. Also maybe swap the rice for mashed potato. Otherwise it was a lovely meal. The chicken was sooo tender and melted in my mouth.

Tea was a little late tonight, so it's a bit darker than I wanted it to be. I hope to use some natural window light for most shots, but this one will have to do for tonights (Monday) since I can't very well re take it :lol:

:lol::lol::lol: and I bet there weren't any leftovers. :D

This looks yummy and works well as a photograph, too. I love the dark blue plate and the slight reflections in it, and the glass of - cider? - by it. You've got the perfect table, too.:)

Can't wait for the next meal. :)

Not even a grain of rice was left :D It really was yummy scrummy!

The table is something I got from freecycle! I was going to get Chris to sand it all down and re wax it, but I kind of like the battered look it has now. So for the time being it will stay like that.

Not sure what is on the menu tonight, but boy am I looking forward to it. I'm particularly hungry today.

Thanks Jean ;) xx

This has to be my favourite so far! It's the second time we have had it, and it is sooooo very tasty. The cobbles (?) are divine and the celery, which I don't normally like in hot food, is also very scrummy.

:lol: Glad you're liking the first one folks! I hope you like this one to.

Jo, I'm going to have to stop looking at your thread unfortunately. It's just making me hungry and I'm trying to sort out today's shot!! ;)

That looks really really tasty, I ordered that book from amazon so will be able to make it as well!! :)

[PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] - can't type for drooling. That looks as scrummy as you say it is. Last time I made 'a cobble' (I'm not sure if that's the right word, either) it didn't look anything like this. It must be a combination of the good cook and the good photographer.

Excellent, Jo :clap::clap:

Sorry :lol:

Glad you're both liking them though ;)

101 cheap eats is a FAB book! Another great one is 3 and 4 ingredient meals. I'll see if I can find it online but it was only £4 from the book people! We've got into cooking in a big way this year (my OH has always been into it but I'm a recent convert), so this is of great interest to me!

Well done so far, meals look nommy :)

If you had posted two of those would it be a load of old cobblers? :coat:

Nice image Jo :thumbs:

Kitten, I think I'm going to get the rest of the 101 books at some stage, so I'll definately be giving that one a try :D

Trust you Chris :lol:
