Hi folks I am new here but for a while I have wanted to buy a DSLR I thought seriously about the Nikon D80 but I had a go at a friends and found it a bit of a brick cause he had a big battaery grip etc on it. I was wondering if I should wait till March to go for the Canon 450D as it would perhaps fit better in my little paws! and I could get a good lens to go with it!
Suggestion please!:

You can take the battery grip off... but by a canon anyway, they are better than Nikons anyway :p

(just wait for it ... )

Oh, David you trying to stir it......:woot: :woot:

:canon:

welcome Howbeg! I think I know your stuff from Flickr.

Assuming you ARE that same Howbeg, we're going to be in your neck of the woods in a while - staying at Sidinish for a fortnight. If you wanted to meet for a drink one evening you'd be more than welcome to handle my 30D (I'll even take the grip off for you!) and see how it feels to you?

PM me if you're interested. :)

I thought the 450D was already out.. wasn't 7DayShop doing a deal on them a few weeks back?

Hi Witch, just finding my way about this forum (slowly) I am the same flicker howbeg. I live on mainland Scotland, I used to live in the Hebrides and still have a house there. If you tell me what route you are taking I might be able to meet. Email my flickr mail
Thanks for the advice

You may want to go to a shop and try out the feel of as many cameras as you can, that's the best advice I was given when I was looking for my D40x. I initially wanted a Canon 400D, but upon handling it, I just didn't like it as much as the Nikon D40x. Was a touch too small for my hands and the Nikon wasn't.

The D80 however is bigger than the 400D (which I'll presume is about the same size as the 450D) so a Canon may be a better bet if you're concerned about physical bulk. I would check out a D80 without the battery grip because they add a significant amount of bulk to the overall package.
