Way back when I joined this site, it was mainly to get some advice on what to do after somehow managing to sell some photos to Chester Zoo.

It's been really good getting people's feedback here and enjoying the witty banter and so on.

Anyhoo, after a year or so of gentle prodding and such, I've achieved my first success of sorts.

On Tuesday, I had a phone call from BBC Countryfile Magazine. They were asking to commision me to take photos for a 4 page article, including a full page image.
I've been and taken the shots (going straight out of my comfort zone in the process), and had a ball.

I've got to send the shots off next week, and even if I get told they're no good, at least I've had the experience!

Just thoguht I'd share my small success with the rest of the forum.

Cheers

Dave

That's not small success. Picking up the BBC as a client is large success. You should indeed be very pleased.

congratulations, but....
where's the pix?!?!?!

Hehe. Haven't processed them properly yet.
Once I have done, I'll stick a few on here.

The mag comes out in January too. I am very excited, and my wife has been beaming to everyone.

Must admit, I've been grinning a lot the last couple of days! :D

Depending on the nature/terms of your commision, you may not actually want to publish the shots before they do.

That's true. I was thinking more of posting similar shots, as I took enough!

Congratulations, that's amazing

I've just been checking your website out, great shots. It just goes to show that it really is the user not the kit that produces great images. You have pretty much the same kit as me but I'm way off the mark!! Practice makes perfect eh...

That's a very understated way of letting us know about a major success. Hearty congratulations.

Excellent! Well done indeed

well done Dave,

I've just had an email from the editor, asking me to send contact sheets too.

Am I right in thinking that these are just thumbnails on A4?

Perhaps I should have thought of this before accepting offers, hehe.

Hello all.

Just to post a quick update on this, my shots are in the current issue of Countryfile magazine, out in all good newsagents today!

How exciting! :D

Congratulations!!!!! Brilliant to hear of your success!!!!
