Yes "he" has a beard and yes "he" would pass for a male if you saw him in the street.
Call me old fashioned, but how can it be a man with female reproductive organs?

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/worl...gives-birth-to-healthy-baby-boy-a3602801.html

Mr Reese was born female but began taking hormone therapy and identifying as a man age 20.
Doctors told him that although taking testosterone has given him facial hair, his ovaries and womb were still healthy and he could have a normal pregnancy.
He stopped taking hormones and conceived about five months later.

And with that, I'm reminded of the old school boy joke, why was the Egyptian child confused?
Because his Daddy became a Mummy ...
Many a true word spoken in jest as the say...

Maybe then, but this will upset the PC brigade if you want to change sex you need to have all your bits hacked off or sucked out so you cannot change your mind later.

Bearded woman gives birth.

Just curious but who are the PC brigade we hear so much of these days, and why would they be upset? (Are they related to Snowflakes?)

I think the PC brigade is a catchall for those who show empathy for others.

Are they related to Snowflakes?
Having checked that with Wiki I'd say yes (y)
Generation Snowflake, or Snowflake Generation, is a neologistic term used to characterize the young adults of the 2010s as being more prone to taking offence and less resilient than previous generations, or as being too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge their own.

Bearded woman gives birth.
That was my first thought too ...
( Well actually the second :D )

So just wondering what kind of sex was this manlady having up to his realisation that he kind liked what that womb can do?

And not to put too finer point on it, "his" partner, is he gay or straight?
Maybe he swings both ways, in which case he's quids in

I'm wondering if both holes are of equeal size, crikey

Oh I have empathy. But I'm sorry, IMO you're not transgender until you actually change gender.

yep agreed and even then its just a badge not a birth certificate.

That, I don't care about.
If they wish to change gender, fine, have at it; but those without commitment, I have no time for.

can we not just be happy for them?
That's not really the issue though is it?

If the headline had said woman with a beard has baby then OK there were plenty of "bearded ladies" in circus's.
And they probably had babies too ...
Speaking as a Biologist, a man has baby? No he didn't ....

I do find it odd that in this day and age, we are told to avoid fatshaming, that we should peoples' bodies "warts and all" (ie avoid photoshopping), and yet in the same breath, we should be allowed to change genders.

I can't imagine wanting to have a fanny.
no thanks i quite like my tallywhacker.

The 'commitment' to change takes many years and often people are ignored for a long time before anyone will take them seriously

Given that this person is from the USA they probably couldn't afford the 'hardware' changes, almost certainly wouldn't be covered by medical insurance, so had to stick with the hormone therapy

A valid point.
However, in order to even become pregnant, this woman will have had to stop taking the male hormones required to even begin the transgender process, and begin taking female hormones in order to kick start ovulation again.
To me that shows a greater commitment to remaining female and becoming a mother, than to becoming the gender of their choice.
In addition, having a baby in the US isn't cheap at the best of times, let alone for someone who would have required a great deal more close monitoring than an average woman.

For a man to go buy a wig and make up he should need a note from the surgeon to say hos tackle is in the skip marked medical waste

So you mean to say this wasn't real!!!!!!! :D

Of course it was. Arnie can do what ever he likes, are you going to be the one to tell him he can't? :D

Exactly.

Lets do everything we can to upset the PC brigade. While they have right to exist and think and say what they like, they have no right to intimidate others, demand safe spaces and force feed their narrative to 90% of the population literally banning words and constantly moving goal posts.

I could not care less if they hack off any of their own private parts or not, but I do 100% care if they pay for it themselves as they should. I also care if they forcefully get in our faces and particularly to our young children.

So technically, the headline should be "A mother of a newborn grows a beard and dresses like a man".

The only really interesting question here is how she managed to grow that beard.

Now you "get it". Indeed you are so confused what is right or wrong the only right decision is to shut up and let the language controllers speak. Tomorrow it may all be different, just like the day after, and you don't get to express your opinion.

P.S. The only 100% real way to change gender would be to change your chromosomes, which is hopefully well and truly beyond the reach of science. Butchering some up is not exactly a sex change.

This is the thing - I've always gone with the idea that XY=male and XX=female. There are a few exceptions eg Turner syndrome (XO, female but missing second X chromosome), Down's (XY+21, XX+21), Kleinefelters (46XXY) etc.
Maybe that's what we should be asking - are you XX, XY or XZ (to cover the genetic disabilities) - though this does mean some people have to reveal they have a genetic problem.

Why do you care? It's his life, not yours.

Why do people feel a need to set a threshold point in the transition process before which they will allow another to self identify as a particular gender? The only person whose business it is is the person transitioning.

if you are born female, you are of female gender...

if you choose to believe youre a man and wish to change, then so be it but your gender is still female...

Define 'born female';

Do you base ir on genetalia? what about children born intersex where doctors decide?
Do you base it on genetics (chromosomes) where there also known abnormailities?

if you are born female, you are of female gender...

if you choose to believe youre a man and wish to change, then so be it but your gender is still female...

Your sex is a predetermined genetic fact, your gender role may not be.

the way I see it, there are 3 sexual genders born, after that... it becomes a belief, mental illness, need, requirement, want, statement etc etc which is upto the individual and what there reasoning is

I tried the dictionary and got the following response, which, to some extent I actually disagree with and believe in a third

gender
ˈdʒɛndə/
noun
noun: gender; plural noun: genders
  1. 1.
the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones).
    "traditional concepts of gender"
    • the members of one or other sex.
"differences between the genders are encouraged from an early age"

Why do you care?
As a biologist, I was refuting the headline that was aimed to either :-
a) shock
b) sell newspapers
c) both.

And the fact that "(s)he" stop taking the hormone treatment in a calculated way, so she could conceive and give birth.
So, we have another to add to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender.
Gender switching as and when convenient.

I also wonder if its done her more harm than good, will Drs now continue the programme of gender switching, as she decided to be female for convenience sake, once again?
I also wonder if she will be an "Earth mother" and breast feed?

Why do you care? It's his life, not yours.

Why do people feel a need to set a threshold point in the transition process before which they will allow another to self identify as a particular gender? The only person whose business it is is the person transitioning.

Then perhaps they might have chosen to keep their business, their business.
Bit naive to announce it to the world and not expect opinions to be bandied about.
This case doesn't involve intersex, or a scrambling of chromosomes, just a woman deciding she'd rather be a man, and then "oh wait, I also want to be a mother".
No doubt she'll now decide to resume male hormones as the next step in her flip-flop lifestyle.
