A little help with sky box please

I got home tonight and reset all the tvs as we had the digital switchover today.
Then went to watch sky but it wasn't working, all the channels are there with the correct info but no picture. I've never seen this before. I tried taking out viewing card etc, but no luck Can't help but think the two events are linked.

My tv is maybe 5 years old. It has a button to switch between analogue and the built in digital. To watch sky you would have to have the tv on analogue and select channel 6. I'm wondering do I need to allocate sky a channel on the built in digital (if you follow me). Has anyone else had this problem? How would I chane the allocated channel, I've read something about an RF channel on the net (I have no idea what it is though) would that be it?

Check the connection from the dish to the box. If that is okay go into services and there should be an option to check the signal level.
 
Signal test show 2 bars, both look to be 50% grey
 
How is your sky box connected to the tv? Using channel 6 suggests something really old like a coax connection? What sky box is it?

If you're using channel 6 then I bet resetting the channels has fudged it, but I don't know why youd need to use channel for sky as its normally on the tv av options.
 
The skybox is quite old, I think 2001. It has a cable for dish input and another for aerial in. The box is connected to the tv via RF out 1 - this cable seems to be a regular tv aerial cable. There is also the unused option of TV scart (I don't have a scart lead anywhere in the house to test this)
 
To get the rf working you'll need to retune ch6 to see the box again. Personally I'd ditch the rf in favour of scart (get a decent scart lead though, not a cheap and nasty one).

Alternatively if your a paying sky customer see if they'll do anything to get you a new box.
 
Yep paying sky customer since sky digital started, with all the channels. Spoken to sky a couple of times about a new box and it annoys me that they expect so much cash for a new box - I don't expect it for free, but I think a loyal customer should at least receive the same deal new customers receive. Might try them again. Minor rant over

Will go get a decent scart cable tomorrow for the moment, hopefully that will fix it.
