A little help please.

My Grandad has this one picture of his mother and would like it printed. Now I know the quality isn't very good but seeing as it the only one he has I would like to do my best before I send it to print.

Would anyone like to have a go at improving it? Even if its just to get rid of the green halo'ing etc...

I had a quick skim over your image and managed to remove the green halo as well as the obvious scratches just so you can see what has been done.

things like the wee black specs here and there can be cloned out later if need be.

A hard image to work with from the start and thus didn't want to destroy it to much either. Tried to put it back to some sort of B&W/Sepia tone but it seems to just destroy what little detail is already there.
Someone may come along and do better.

Looks better now the green haloing has gone though!
