A little frustrated

For about the 5th day running now I have been witnessing a magnificent sight every morning between 7 and 9am. The flock of Fieldfares and Redwings has been growing in numbers daily and they are going for all the berries in one of our trees.

Now I'm frustrated because I am currently between zoom lenses :lol: I sold my Sigma 70-300 the other week, and my 70-200 L is coming (hopefully) on Saturday. Trouble is that I'm not sure the berries will last that long. And every day I try my best with my nifty fifty, and wind up just getting completely peed off that I can't get close enough :'(

Anyone out there with a big zoom want to come and make the most of these fellas while they are still around? :lol: I'll even throw in a frothy coffee or two :shrug: :lol:

I get similar frustrations on my commute. Twice last week the low cloud/mist magnified the rising sun to about 4 times it's normal size, whilst dimming it.

It was the only two days I didn't have a camera on me :(

I know how you feel! My 70-300 is up for sale, so its all boxed up and my new Nikkor 180mm f2.8 is in the post!!!

Let's just hope those berries are still around on saturday!
 
Jo, if you have an infrared release, you could tape the camera to a length of 2x1 timber at desired heigth and stick in the ground as close to the tree as need be, otherwise........ hope the berries last till Saturday :) You are going to love this lens :)
 
Jo, Saturday is only 2 days away surely the berries will last to then?? and the post is normally early on a sat, sooo fingers crossed and glue them berries on if need be. Regards Jim

No, mine is a cable release. Having said that I am way to protective of my camera to risk doing that anyway :lol: There is a chance the Fieldfares and Redwings would dive bomb and projectile poop on my camera, not to mention the risk of it toppling over... gives me the shivers even thinking about it :lol:

So stick it in a plastic bag with the lens sticking out, secured with tape. Add a UV filter and let the poop come on!
