I should be getting replies back from two colleges. I applied for A level photography at one college along with the other A levels such as english etc.
I also applied for an evening introduction course at another college, should i not get in to the other college.
If i get into the A level course, is it still worth doing the intro course? Bear in mind that i would have to change a shift at work to do the evening course.

Thanks.

Magnum,

Getting the basics right is very important, and even if you do a full course somewhere else, it would be well worth doing an intro course at the other college.

The better your grasp of the basics, the better you'll be in the long term.

I thought maybe the basics would be covered in the A level course any way?

I did a basic 10 week course and didn't take much away from it other than it forcing me to go out and take pictures, which I assume the A level will do anyway...

It seemed to be aimed more at real beginners, using P & S cameras, there were a few of us who already knew how to use our SLRs on manual mode/about ISO/aperture etc and don't really think any of us got much out of it!

I got accepted to my NC photography which i start in Aug, and atm i'm doing an eve course atm at the same college. its worth it!! xx

How many weeks is your course? What do you do in it?

They are! You might find an 'intro' course a little too basic, depending upon your photography knowledge/experience.

I have done an A level photography course (well, the first year anyway!) and it did cover all the basic stuff like aperture, ISO etc.
