A late starting 365 :-(

That mayfly larvae is a fantastic find, bet your boys liked that too ;)

Hope you keep it and take another shot too, when you get some black card.

They loved it - I have kept it (in an old UV filter case :) ) and yes I will take another shot with the black card (and possibly a Raynox, having taken a look at Dave Kiddle's recent efforts)

tomorrows here and looking forward to see the results!!

87. So I am in a better mood today but ended up with a black and white shot anyway. This is not really what I wanted But I quite like the tree on the left and the masts on the right.

88. In the "Little Emme". Yesterday we were back where we had built the dam last week - only to discover that the storm in the middle of the week had deposited several tons of gravel on top of our dams. I went swimming instead - this is a "self portrait" taken by Tanja on my command.

88. EXTRA:
we were in Lucerne this morning and I took this one for Julian. Not the Swiss navy yet but an old paddle steamer that used to form the only link from Lucerne all the way along the lake to the Gotthard pass at the south end. If you want you can still book a 'train ticket' from the north over the alps and use the steamer for a three hour tripp down the lake. There are still porters who will take your luggage from the train onto the ship ( the station is right on the lake shore).

rotor looks cool, shame about the overblown area in the bottom right. But I guess this was a quick grab shot

90. We were out geocaching (www.geocaching.org for those who are not sure what that is) today and got into some interesting places, including under the local motorway - twice.
And because of the selective colouring going on here I tried to make this shot (actually the only one I took) a bit more interesting.

93. I was up and out early again this morning with the intention of seeing what I could see around the two bunker like entries into the cliff face near here. Things had changed a bit since I last went that way, the undergrowth has really grown! I cycled straight past the little path twice before I found the entrance. The path was completely overgrown and I could not see much even when I was there. I had a nice breakfast of wild strawberries though and I got this shot. There are some wierd tower like structures in the steep forest behind this and some concrete boxes set into the ground. I couldn't really see them that well or get that close to them unfortunately. Anyway - here it is "green hell"

Oh, I want in!!

Looks quite well maintained so could be probably still classed as an active site. New grills on the doors to the right. I'm really confused as to what it was??

Will have a look tonight and try to find some info.

Ahhhh Mr Bond we've been expecting you . . . . .

Great shot, interesting place, looking forward to what JD digs up now. Just wait until next week, JD will post shots of the inside :D

I asked around last night in the village a bit and apparently they are ammunition bunkers which would explain the very obvious no smoking signs all over the place. Probably still in use though JD so no chance of a tour I think :(

95. We bought a new chest of drawers today to have space for the new arrival. The boys thought that the chest of drawers was a great cave to play in while I was building it

your kids are beautiful :D Love the one with the cake.

And the thing in the tree is straight out of Lost!!

Edit: Forgot to say, really like the detail on the jewellry box.

97. I decided to try a drop of water shot today. One problem is my lack of a decent flash (I only have the internal camera flash) which meant that to avoid a big shadow from the lens I had to shoot rather a steep angle. On the whole though I am pleased with the results. The baking tray I was using has a blue sparkly interior which explains a lot of the spots that look like dust. I might try again one day when I have an external flash and with a different colour tray.

Thanks - I have been looking at either the Sigma 530 or a speedlight from Nikon today though. Still have a bit of researching to do thouth

I'd go for a sb600, it's all the flash you will ever need. Can't be fired remotely from the d40 using commander, but when you upgrade your body it probably will be able to.

The water drop is really good mate, it's harder than you think isn't it??

The sky has just gone crazy here - amazing sunset with low sun shining onto a storm, with 2 rainbows and red clouds. Just been running around the place like a crazy man - I will have to sort through all the photos and see if I got something good.

Thanks for the tip - I am not sure how soon I will be upgrading so I really want something that will work remotely with the D40.

The water drop was good fun, thanks for the comment, I will definitely be giving it a go again.
