Earlier this year I was asked to cover a series of major equine events throughout August on behalf of the British Equestrian Federation and because of other commitments and the distances involved for some of the events I was unable to attend them all. MooMike and Dod very kindly stepped up to the plate with Mike covering the events in the North and West and Dod doing the Aberdeen one.

It's been quite a month with every location being very challenging due to the poor lighting at all the indoors arenas which wasn't helped by the inclement weather - usually in August you expect a few good days but it wasn't to be. The shoots have been very long often starting at 7am and not finishing until 6pm as was seen in my other thread about documenting a day at one of these. I should think between us we've taken somewhere in the region of 15-20,000 images - I've got just under 4,500 just from the finals yesterday which Mike helped out on and unfortunately he copped the arena with the crap lighting - again! Sorry Mike!

With all the potential pitfalls we only had one complaint which started thus:

I purchased two prints from the event which arrived today and I'm disgusted that I have paid for two photographs that took over a week to arrive and all I have received is exactley that, two photographs.

Erm, as you can imagine I was wondering where this was going. I won't bore you with the details but it was very silly!

Anyway the point of this was to publicly acknowledge their hard work, commitment and professionalism all of which was commented on by BEF officials and competitors alike. Thanks guys and thanks to TP otherwise I'd have been struggling.

Well done to all 3 of you! Doing the karate stuff, I know way too much about trying to do events in lousy light and having done a horse show yesterday with Kerioak, I have every admiration for you all. They are huge fun but incredibly hard work.:clap:

However, I am dying to know about the complaint, it sounds fascinating!

Perhaps they thought they'd bought two horses!!! :D

was a pleasure mate, thanks for the opportunity :)

Conditions weren't good at the one I did. Poor lighting, dark day, at times I was using ISO 6400, F2.8 and still only getting 1/60th. Really did push the equipment to the limit.

Looks like it wasn't too bad yesterday, at least your ring anyway

Well done all

But you MUST 'bore' us with those details - that's bizarre sounding

Did they perhaps expect them to be in slip-mounts ready for dropping into a frame???

DD

That was exactly the gist of the complaint!

All sorted now.

i would be upset if i paid for 2 photographs and then you had the brass balls to actually SEND 2 PHOTOGRAPHS. the sheer cheek of it

Talking of brass balls, she got a refund then wanted us to send some more images "as a good will gesture".

I don't think she will have received them yet. :)

Lost in the post I suspect ?
These Equine types can be really cheeky ;)

Well done to all concerned

I'd have only offered a refund if there was something wrong with the photos - assuming you hadn't said slip-folders were supplied?

Oh, and only on receiving them back too for me to destroy

Some peeps... Grrrrrrrr :bat:
