Hi guys

I've been a keen photography enthusiast for the best part of 7 years now, which may not seem like very long, but it's fair to say I've always been interested in the visual arts.

Recently I moved into a house with my girlfriend and she's gradually been worn down by my constant camera chat. I noticed she had a good eye for composition and interesting subjects when I looked at her photostream (all pics taken with iPhone).

Well, she's now started to use my R-D1 and is getting very good! I've been teaching her about the basics, and the R-D1 is a good camera to learn with. We went to a wedding recently and I took my OM1 and she had the R-D1. She took a total of 30 images and this was our fave:

I did the post (We'll talk about that later!!) but really we try and do as little as possible on that front.

It's really great to share my hobby. Hopefully it'll develop in her and become something we can do together - and she can tag along with me on my photo adventures.

I just wanted to share - do check back in a month or so and see how long it lasts!!

Cheers
Chris

Id love for my Wife to share my interest in photography, so you are a lucky man, but then im sure she would love for me to share her interests also. Unfortunately, if I am going to get out of bed at 4:30am for anything, id rather it was for a sunrise, and not to go and muck out a couple of horses as she does:D

Yip. My wife has no interest in photography at all, but has an irritating ability to take remarkably good shots with her Panasonic compact on auto!

haha. i tried to give my wife photography bug. no luck. but at least now this let me keep buying lenses and even second body camera recently, and she doesnt mind as long as i dont try anymore to get her to take pictures. both we are happy with it :P

Quite lucky in that sense in that Amy loves photography too (although possibly not as obsessed with it as I am lol), it's entirely my fault, she was never into it before we met, but she's hooked these days. Been teaching her the little I know and she's pretty much decided my old D90 is now hers.

She lets me do what I want and spend what I want (within reason) on photography, encourages me in my hobby and makes a point of making sure I take my gear with me when we go out walking or anything. An added bonus is she loves being in front of a camera too and (in my view) the camera loves her see http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/more-amy.554793/

SWMBO is not into photography as much as I am. She'll use the point and shoot or the iPhone. However she probably has a better eye than me and I've no doubt she could be really very good if she wanted to do it. She's pretty supportive though and appreciates good pics of our kiddies (though not managed to catch her "on film" as she hates it!!)

I'd say my OH is a mixed bag. ( tho I'd be careful HOW I said that :D)

Pluses and Minuses :

+ she's supportive of my new hobby
+encourages me to buy what's needed
+happy to stand about while I try and frame a good shot
+very good at suggesting subjects she would like to see photos of

-no interest in taking photos, or hearing about it in any way
-never takes any photos herself ( I can count on one hand the number of holiday pics etc over the years that have me in them!)
-not keen on being the subject herself, though I think as I improve my PP skills, she'll come around !

Overall, not a hobby shared, but one that suits us both very well :)

My hubby has no interest to share in my hobby, nor do I have interest to share in his (motorbikes and flying model planes)... but I don't look at that as a negative, because it's nice to be able to go off and have our own things. But I will say he does always compliment and support me and my work.

My GF takes more pictures than I do, she constantly snaps and takes vids with her iphone thingy. She also says "Take my picture" quite a lot :D She shows no interest in using a camera rather than a smart phone though. Cameras, she says, are too big and heavy, even an LX5.

Ribblehead viaduct eh? Is she interested in trains as well? If so, double whammy bonus!:)

PS Looks like she's got a good eye for photography.
