Part 1:

Guess what I'm doing to this little Pentax?

Yes, that's right - I'm Carbon fibre wrapping it (using the plastic stuff not the real thing)

I've spent the past half hour cleaning up the gunk left behind by the glue.

Ahhh, shades of Arthur (Ambermile's) FrankenKamera.... what did it end up getting called.... "изверг" wasn't it ?

For one scary moment I thought you were going to say you were going to fit a digital sensor into that cracking little camera. As for the carbon fibre, I would have thought a nice snakeskin cover would be be more suitable.

"изверг" the monster iirc  I miss Arthur and his bizarre creations.

Well it's now got a little more involved, since when the new covers n it won't be dismantleable so now it's in bits having a DIY CLA. Well CL, I ain't adjusting anything or it'll never work again!

well considering the amount of stick i got for re-covering my A-1 in blue leatherette (only temporary as the good black stuff has arrived now) you will be getting laughed at for a while :P

No one else has done it and I want to see what it looks like, same reason I have grey wheels on my car.

If you really want to burn your eyes out have a look through London Camera Exchange's selection of Olympus Trips I think they were (may have been 35RCs also) in a wide variety of scray coverings. I quite like the denim one :D

From what I remember, they aren't LCEs doing - is it TripMan or something who does them?

No idea but they have several at LCE.

A little more on my project: Sanded down and resprayed the film door, with disastrous results, the paint was off (should have known considering what happened with my front bumper!) So I've got to do it again tomorrow, if the paint ever goes off and I can sand it down again!

Make a work picture-blog. It's always fun to read about DIY projects like that.

Yes I think it looks pretty smart too. Certainly makes a nice change from 80s leatherette.

Its Ok. The CF effect is a little much for me. This reminds me I need to sort out my trip though.

How easy is this to do and where does one get the stuff to cover it? I've got a knackered peeling old Medium Format folder that's crying out for a bit of care.

See my blog, it's easy enough to do if you can bebothered. I got mine as an offcut from here. I'm sure he'll be able to sell you some material cheap enough or even wrap it in house if you don't want the hassle.

just realised I no longer link to my blog in my sognature! try here!
