Registered today and been reading through the forums looking for tips on cameras. I am currently shooting with an old DSLR I was given for free (DImage Z3) and I am looking to get a bit more serious. I have been recommended by a friend something like a Nikon D40X as I think that is around my price point. Mostly I take pictures when I am out and about walking/cycling (usually I stop first
) but I also take a lot of pictures at motor races trucks/cars/bikes so I am looking for something suitable for both. I notice that Sony do an A200 bundle with two lenses 18-70 and 75-300 which I figure could be suitable as well as the D40X with appropriate glass.
So essentially as well as saying hi I am asking... what other cameras do people recommend around the D40X pricepoint new or used? And what lenses do people recommend for motorsports like truck, car and bike racing? Bearing in mind I am a bit of a noob but looking to learn. My price point is around D40X/D60 territory but I am willing to pay a bit more for a lens if it will really make a difference with the racing pics.
