Yes
My hoover went and packed up yesterday so looking to buy another. What ones are the best for dealing with dog hair? I have three rather active long haired Border Collies so dealing with dog hair is the main factor, even my 3 and 4year old kids are cleaner:rolleyes:

Downstairs is all solid hardwood flooring with shaggy rugs and upstairs is carpet. so after a hoover that's good on most surfaces.

Cheers.

Never had a seconds complaint about my Miele cat & dog. Brilliant at hard floors and the way it took up pet hair and maintained the nap on the carpets made it worth the bags.

Incidentally it's still going...just don't have a dog anymore :(

I wouldn't get one with a rotating brush bar... We have a Welsh sheepdog (similar to a collie) and whenever I vacuum I spend longer getting the fur off the brush bar than I did vacuuming in the first place!!

You could always vacuum the dog instead though o_O. So tempted to try this lol, even though we don't have a dyson...

Have never had a problem with either rotating brushes on the miele.

Like every single item, you'll get the best reports and the horror stories of them all. :-)

Wahl...

DSH cat so Henry copes just fine! ;)

Then recommend Henry. :-)
Can't recommend Wahl unless you've tried it on kitty....filming and posting it, of course

Dyson have a new brush head that doesn't clog...Apparently

We bought a Dyson Animal (we have cats) 14 years ago and it's still going strong. I'm sure the newer models are just as good if not better.

I have a Dyson upright and it lifts dog hair just fine. Not had any problems with Dyson although I don't think the build quality (in terms of being robust) is as good as it once was.

Thanks all. I'll have a look about and see what's what. It will probably have to be one I can buy in the shops tomorrow. Looks like it's been snowing in my house today with all the dog fluff about lol

Yeh they are near enough identical apart from longer legs, broader chest and more independent when working.

I do hoover my dogs lol, they love it. I have this dog brush that you put on the end of your hoover so it sucks the hair in as you brush them. it's great for the typical Scottish weather days, means I can brush them in the house. It still doesn't help the fluff that gets everywhere else though and it's for Dyson only.

I used to call it tumblefur

When the EU announcement was made about banning powerful motors we bought this. In fact the seller (ao.com) then dropped the price to £99 so I bought another one. If you can find any for around that price I'd definitely recommend it. There is a newer model but I'm not sure it's worth the £300+ being asked.

Anyway the pros are it picks up hairs better than any Dyson we've had. It has a rotating brush which unclips so is easy to clean. It has variable speeds so you can hoover your curtains or dog.

The cons are it's a wee bit cumbersome to move about and a bit noisy on full pelt but made up for how well it picks up dog hair.

I used to do that on a regular basis, with a dyson and the supplied "tools" none of the fancy stuff :D
But then I've always had big dogs,
and they actually liked it :)
I wouldn't be tempted to use a Dyson on a small breed, can you imagine? :D

Lol it's bad enough on my Collies flabby parts let along swallowing up a small dog.

:D

In all seriousness though, although they liked it and did reduce the problem,
but it never actually solved it.

I've always sworn by Henry's and yep used to hoover my GSD too :D
If you want a dog that moults you really do need a GSD, I always said mine only moulted twice a year
for 6 months each time, wonder he wasn't bald

Oooo mine did that too :D

i have a dyson animal, that works very well, but would avoid the dyson handheld, thats had a new battery and motor assembly, poor design and complete lack of contract grease make it something that wont last very long.

We had the same issues with our dogs, always looking for a decent vac, however we started using a Furminator on the dogs ,time consuming at times but it kept the fur at bay

I use the Furminator quite a bit Dennis. But with having three long haired dogs it usually take me a good half day to do them all lol.

ouir henry hoover is coping pretty well - although tbh kim doesnt shed as much as some dogs, i probably account for more of the cack on the floor than she does (mainly chainsaw chip falling out of my boots)

The Parish council for that quaint village in Northants,
will be much obliged if you stop messing up the place (y)

For vaccing cars I use the trade equivalent of a James which is a henry with a tool tray rather than a cable real. I do the whole car with a crevice tool to scrape or the round brush (which just so happens to be the same diameter as cup holders) on the plastics and leather if it has it. For dog hair I have two extra tools that sit in the tray of my vac. One is a rubber bristled brush and the other is like rough pummis stone. Both grip hairs on material and the later is amazing, but the brush is for where fabric meets plastic or leather so as not to scratch them.

But my advice to anyone vaccing their car is to brush through first, you'll get a much better result. I can spend an hour just vaccing in a car but they result is worth it.

Just thought it might be helpful for doing your car, but also newmatic VAC's are brilliant.

That sounds pretty tempting. I'm a car nut and I'm currently on my 3rd restoration at home (E34 M5 BMW). I also do a lot of bodywork in my garage so you can imagine what state my cars and house gets into. To me my cars have to be as clean as my house lol, drives the wife pott but she's never complained come resale time

When I do my interior valet or full valet I deep clean the interior plastics with some special cleaner, 2 chamois and a bucket if water. You should see the state of the water in the bucket when I finished. I try not to think about what I'm putting my hands in but if you think about there's sweat on parts (if there is a creamy colour on the steering wheel etc that's sweat), sneeze juice, cough juice, germs from where people don't wash their hands after going to the toilet, blood, bogies, finger nails, food crumbs, skin etc etc. I'd say its worth keeping the inside of the car clean too lol.

I feel a bit nauseous now :(

Lol thank you for making me never want to go in my car again. You'll see me driving by in my white paper spray suit with fresh air fed mask :ROFLMAO:

Miele, make sure it has the spinning brush bit, not just the normal head, Ive had a S5280 and S5281, highly recommend both. Cat and Dogs also very good. I like the design as its easier to store than a henry or upright.
