Yes
If you were building a studio what size would it be?
Obviously not too big but within reason?

I was not too long ago I was going to build one in an existing (large) factory building.

If I can recall, it was going to be 6 meters wide by 4 meters high and 17 meters long, this would give me enough space for a toilet, shower and make up area, a small kitchen and viewing area, this would leave me with a 10 x 6 meter shooting area.

I also had use of another 1200 m2 of factory space for cars, bikes and stuff if needed.

The studio could could have been built for just under 3000 euros, I would do most of the work though.

Thats a nice size studio!

Nice size, most would not be that large I would think

the biggest you can get it i suppose

I know a Pro in Edinburgh with a studio. I'd say it's about 600sq ft and that is probably the size for pro shoots unless you are doing model shoots only.

If you are amature then a largish size garage might suit as you would only be doing the photography there and desk, files pc's, ironing board, clothes rack etc etc will not be needed.

It was going to be for hire too, so it had to offer a certain amount of space and amenities.

I still have the plans, so maybe one day soon.

I`m lucky in that i now use parents old garage its 300sqr metres !!!! :-) lovely and it allowed me to build an infinity wall, extravagance i know but so wonderful.

In reality if it used full time as a working studio i would say minimum of 200 sqr metres, its amazing how it just grows.

I presume you mean sq ft?

Seriously, make it as big as you possibly can. There is no such thing as too big.

And make the door as big as possible too. If you're going commercial and can get bikes and cars in there, the potential is multiplied.

Big is best but don't forget rolling partition boards and ceiling mounted curtain rails.
Also try to figure out the costs of heating/air conditioning etc.
A fridge is a must too.

Depends what it's being used for. At work we had a tiny room (10' x 8') for doing product shots, but we managed to negotiate a larger room that's 30' x 14' and the ceiling is approx 18' high.

Ceiling height is important so you can use a softbox on the flash units and get them up high enough.

I'd love to have somewhere accessible enough to get a car in
