I am on the lookout for a bay 1 rolleinar 1. If anyone sees one around or knows where one might be hiding please tell! I have a wanted ad in the classified section if anyone here has one...

More than happy to keep a look out. What's it look like

Jim, you may already be aware but that listing is for one half only. If you want to see what the taking lens is seeing you'll need the second thicker lens to fit to the viewing lens.

Something else that you may already know is that if there's dust in the Rolleinar 1 lens that fits onto the viewing lens then it's very easy to take it apart to clean it :)

Here's a link to the complete thing - linky

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks for that. I had dismissed the ones on eBay with only half the set! Thanks for the link.

Jim, what's your ideal budget on one? I remember seeing one recently on the web, although I'll have to have a hunt to try to remember where.

At least they are more common than Bay 2 Rolleinars... or Bay 2 anything, come to mention it!

EDIT: just had a look and couldn't find anything, there was a Rolleinar 2 on Peter Walnes' site that might've been it. That's very expensive though, and it's boxed, more for the collector. Keep an eye on ffordes, they tend to have reasonably priced Rollei accessories. MW Classic tend to be on the expensive side for them.

Will do. Don't mind paying good money but don't want to pay shelf queen money! ;)

Just had a bit of luck. Spotted a set on the LCE website at the Strand store. Popped down this lunchtime and there was a box containing all 3 rolleinars for bay 1. Good used condition with clean glass, in the leather case with instructions.

The best thing was that they were priced at £29.99! Needless to say I snapped them up.

Certainly - even the leather cases just exude a quality feeling, and the attachment on the viewing lens with the automatic parallax correction is just a superb design to get around parallax error in TLRs. Franke & Heidecke engineers - a different league altogether.

I only occasionally use my Rolleinar 1 for portraits but when I do, it's a great piece of kit.

I only really wanted the 1 so the other 2 are a bonus and basically with today's pricing, free. I can't wait to have a play with them!
