A drone for beginners

My teenage son wants a basic camera drone for his birthday, I don't want to spend more than about £150 on a starter one ( yes I realise you get what you pay for!), but for that limited budget, any recommendations of a good starter one ? Doesn't have to be brand new if necessary.
 
Without electronic assistance, drones can be very hard to keep in the air, especially if you have no experience. DJI drones use all sorts of technology to make them easy to fly and keep in the air.
I suspect for £150 you will forego this technology and will probably end up crashing your £150 drone within minutes of taking off.

I'd save up a few more pennies and get the DJI Spark. They can be had for £400-£450
