A driving rant !!

All Drivers should spend a month on a 50cc scooter..
This would give them a much better understanding of how lethal roads are and how vulnerable others are.
I have ridden 50cc to 1100cc Bikes upto 233mph... not exactly on the 50cc mind.
HGV's vans cars and boy!! what i have seen on the roads!!!

lol was gonna say wat fuel do u use on the 50cc to go that fast rocket fuel lol

Sunday Drivers!!!!

i love it when im in lane two and someone starts to undertake me .i

If your in lane 2, and someone is able to undertake you, should'nt YOU be in lane 1 ?

Not havin a go, just wonderin...

i love it when im in lane two and someone starts to undertake me .i let them get halfway along the trailer then drift back into lane one , and then put the left indicator on , they normally find their brake by then , or go up the hard shoulder , or get squashed . i dont give a ***k coz i weigh anything from 17500kgs to 44000 kgs . and as they go by i shout I AM CONSIDERABLY LARGER THAN YOW . we like trucking and we like to truck yeah.. just wish i had a volvo and not a fu**ing merc pile of cr*p

so you purposely let your truck drift back into the first lane when you know that someone is there..............

i hope im not on the same bit of motorway when YOU cause a ****ing huge accident, 2 wrongs dont make a right...

and unlike borats baby i am having a go because what your saying you do IS BLOODY DANGEROUS!

yeah it wakes them up .

and i think two wrongs do make a right if you add them up

there are motorways where two lanes become three .where a joining slip becomes lane one , m11 m2 m23 all have this setup so i end up in lane two and before i can get over into lane one mr car driver tries to race up the inside .

people should have more patience with us trucks . but no ,,,some people just cant wait for a couple of seconds for us to get out the way so they try all they can to race us , i even had one try to get past me by going under the back of my trailer once , that didnt work either ( that was my fault as well ispose ) but its alright he was an estate agent .

Well thats fair enough then !

yup, thats one of my lorry driving pet hates. you move into lane 2 to let some k**b car driver get onto the mway in traffic .(of course theres always six of em at once , all about 6 feet apart so they cant merge one at a time. )
then you both sit there at 56 for 3 miles , cos i cant go anyfaster, hes mates 3ft behind me, and they havent got sense to back off a tad, and let you back into the nearside lane.:cuckoo:
i even got one today trying to force me over into lane 2 as he came up the slip. i have a lorry to my right and nowhere to go, and this birk is level with my rear axle. hes actualy honking his horn for me to move over, at about 50.theres three lanes of traffic and 100 yd gap behind me . 2@:bang:
he ended up driving onto the hardshoulder and dropping in behind me.

m1 / a42 at kegworth ? i was joining the a14 from the spittles link a little while ago ,so down the slip road i went trying to get some speed up to join the flow ,doing about 45/50 mph and just as i moved over into the first lane mr ( lets call him mr rep with no time to spare ) actually came out from behind me and tried to overtake me in the middle lane exept there aint a middle lane so he tried to go up the middle of me and a car in lane two ,there was no coming together but he got the message and hung back. oh what fun we have on the roads .ban the trucks ban the trucks , yeah then whos gonna bring everything you want to buy to the shops ? anyone reading this in real time ive got dudley bromsgrove and coventry tomorrow , ( just in case you want to keep out me way )

agree totaly. put all the goods on the railway.
oh, but our railway network is rubbish.
and who takes the stuff from the railway to the shops?. ah.
but gov .co.uk wont let us run double trailers for nightruns, thus reducing daytime traffic. oops.
maybe they should have the outside lane on mways for fully loaded(4/5 people) cars instead.?

donutagain, inaneredstripe, Must say that I agree with most of what you both have said, I am a rep , but I am buggered if I am going to put my life or the life of other road users at risk to get somewhere maybe 2 minutes quicker.
I travel up to London on a regular basis and it always makes me laugh the people who fly by me on the M27 at just gone 5 in the morning doing 90+ for me to then pull up next to them in the usual queue on the M3 between Fleet services and the M25. I always chuckle at that.
I must ask you guys what you think about the amount of lorries that you see these days drafting each other to the point that I doubt I could get a car in between them, I am always amazed that I do not see more accidents between lorries doing this.

OK, todays rant !!!!

Dual carriageways !!

Theres a stretch near my house about 3miles long. Goes from the town centre to the outskirts. Towards the end of this carriageway is a large roundabout.

WHY OH WHY do people insist on sitting in the outside lane (from town centre), at 30mph (the actual speed limit) becuase they want to turn right at the roundabout. (3 miles ahead)..

They think they're doing nothing wrong because they're sticking to the speed limit, but all they're doing is holding all other traffic up.

This is 8 out of every 10 cars !!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

... a couple of times ive wondered if the freedom driving has given me, is worth the stress

Trust me its not worth it.
I have to drive in and around London city and west end every day, spending 4 hours a day - 20 hours a week behind the wheel getting stressed before I do any work. :bang:

Come the weekend I just dont want to drive anywhere, so I cycle around the back country roads and I still get stress from drivers :nono:
Hands up if you overtake a cyclist only to turn left in front of him :suspect: cant you wait 2 seconds?
I have lost count how many cars I have had to bounce off.
GIVE US CYCLISTS A BREAK :annoyed:

PS; No I dont jump red lights or cycle up the inside of lorries :p

Must admit living in the country is a far more pleasurable drive then when I used to live on the edge of Derby. Here you can just let people out and trundle around with no speed cameras to worry about, just keeping an eye on the actual traffic and sheep.

I do find my driving gets a lot more defensive as soon as I hit the cities or motorways though and that I am not the slowest driver around (though I tend to drive a lot slower in my little rover with no abs/airbags etc) than I do in my dads new toyota, and I am sure I am as guilty of complaining about other peoples driving only to do the same thing a few miles further on, I am also a b****r at picking fault with my dads driving if I am a passenger only to get really defensive if he picks fault with mine :p

But I enjoy driving and just try and not let things annoy me, I can slip into the odd bit of road rage when people push in etc, but I try and just shrug it off. My pet hate is people sitting in the middle lane though, especially the ones who I flash so they move over then move directly back out as I have gone past, which shows they know they shouldnt be out there, but have chosen to actually drive there! I just dont get it! The only time I have ever done it was driving back from Edinburgh in the early hours of new years day in the pouring rain on an empty M6 - the inside lane was much wetter and visability was reduced so sat in the middle to keep it safe.

There are so many drivers out there that I cant believe they all passed their tests! Including someone I saw the other day trying to over take an ambulance on blues and twos on a dual carriageway. The car must have been doing over a ton after he got past. Just hope they have the power to report them, but guess they have more important things on their mind.

i always give cyclists a very wide birth as ive been there and know whats its like.

currently getting my bike sorted so i can ride to work, i love driving but if i can save money and get fit at the same time :)

driving is fairly relaxed in the country, my drive to work is great (views of the lake district hills, mist in the fields etc, it only gets annoying when you get stuck behind a farmer in his pickup driving at 20mph between cockermouth and carlisle!

OK, its the old folk who are going to get it today !!

I live in an estate with loads of em, bungalows and Honda Jazz's galore !!

They usually come out on a Sunday, but have been known to "grace" the roads midweek. One in particular drives a Nissan Micra everywhere in just 1 gear. Bluddy fantastic that, 2nd gear is as fast as that lady needs to go, so thats the only gear she uses. I KID YOU NOT !! She pulls away in 2nd gear, gets the engine up to about 5K revs and then sits there no matter what speed limit she's in at 27mph.

She left her car in the middle of the road once to go and open the gate. She's a frail old lady and the task of opening the gate was quite major and took nearly 3 or 4 minutes. That may not seem like long, but it is when your blocking both lanes of traffic.

Corner cutting is mandatory for these people, as is indicating before going round a bend in the road !!!

TAKE THEIR LICENCES OFF THEM PLEASE !!! The only reason they've got them is because they've had them WAY before driving tests were invented !!

BB :)

yup. seen them. in grantham a few years ago. an old dear in a metro drove down the highstreet screaming the t*ts of it all the way in first gear.:bonk:
my local old f**t drives everywear at 35.30 limits, 40 limits, 60 limits.motorway. 35.:cuckoo:
hes hit his house three times recently too.
backed straight out of his drive into the side of a dustbin lorry emptying his bin last year.
buys a brand new car every two years as well.

And they insist on "feeding" the wheel as they make turns at 1 mile an hour, engine screaming !!

dave just cant bring myself to do it .sometimes i have to get up close to the back of another lorry ,just before i overtake it ( or try to ) if i pulled out any earlier it would take me too long just to catch it up ,the trouble is most trucks have speed limiters but not set exactly the same so one truck might be about 1-2 kph quicker than another ,so it take a long time to get past , which in turn hacks off the world and his mate .:bang:

question for all you non truck drivers out there ( no cheating by looking in the highway code now ) whats the speed limit for trucks on a single carriageway ?

a dual carriageway ?

a motorway ?

Anyone who's been stuck behind a Tescos lorry will know it's 40mph.

Doesnt it depend on the size of the truck too? 18 wheelers I thought were slower than 60mph on the motorway.

Yeah just had a look on the net and seem you were right :)

it is 60 mph but since jan 88 ( i think ) they should all be fitted with a speed limiter set to 56 mph . exept the irish the italians some germans and all eastern eu countries

single carriageway 40m.p.h

dual carriageway 50m.p.h

motorway 60 m.p.h

so when im going along single carriageway roads at the speed limit , why does everyone when they get past me give me a cheary wave with one finger ? cant wait some people .

because the said people dont know the highway code for the vehicle they are driving let alone other vehicles ... but come to think of it they dont know highway code.
